All I can say is CONGRATULATIONS and Hot Tea/Broth.

Anything hot always gets the gas moving for me!  It's trick I learned when I had a C-Section, but worked just as well when I had my RNY surgery.

I did the same thing.

I actually had a BM the first night. The doctor was shocked that I had to go just a few hours out of surgery.

I got out of bed about 4 hours out of surgery. I was deathly afraid of thromos so I walked and walked.

I never had much pain either. Or gas. I had some, but it worked its way out. with walking and sipping hot broth.  I still burp all the time.

But I was afraid of eating too. I remember sipping out of the lid of a waterbottle. It took 2 drinks to get it in. I didn't eat anything for 2 weeks I don't think, except a couple sips of broth or tea.

Congrads on the surgery. I am happy for you. It will all seem like normal in a couple weeks. Don't force too much in, or it will come out.

He may look miserable, but in about 3 months when he looses 50-100 lbs he is going to start carrying you around the house.

I don't know what your MD said you can eat, but mine gave me the OK for sugar free fudgesicles after 2 weeks. I kept looking at the calendar and telling myself, "I am going to eat fudgesicles in 3 days."

Race you to 225lbs there big man!
Start Wt.:485
Surgical Date: 12/10/08 Open RNY
Goal Wt: 275
Present Wt: 224 LBS!!!!!!!

Ya, thats right, Im UNDER MY GOAL BY 50LBS!!

LOL

Thanks so much for your advice Dave. That line about him carrying me around the house is motivation enough for me!!! LMAO

Ooooh weee!

Saturday he moves to his full liquid diet, he's on clear for 4 days. Full for 10 days, then soft (can't remember how long but we have it written down). One day at a time. He's MUCH better today. He's been singing around the house (he has a fantastic voice) and even tried to get frisky with me today. Nooooooo waaaaay. This cat is 3 days post op! Are you serious??? I told him "man...hey man...cut that out dude...go sit down somewhere and relax something".

He's somethin ELSE!

(but I like it)
