surgery ??????
after u started all the testing how long after .. intil u had surgery ..... i know there alot test.. wasnt sure how long it took before u got surgery .... here .. i went though alot in ny for test then i decided to wait intil i moved rockford il .. i was 4 months of test and still didn thave it .. just wondering how it is here ... thanks guys for helping me

Do you hve a doctor yet? Can some of the results from NY be used or are you having to start over? Who is your insurance Co? Get some information directly from them. It took me 9 months, but I had other issues that that had to be addressed first. But once i sent in for approval, I got it within 5 days.

hey all thanks so much for helping me .... i am doing all the test over due to being almost year since then .. i have docs appt tomrrow ,, to get everything back in order...
i need get blood pressure under control maki ng sick due to being high.....
i have high blood pressure sleep , apena ,,, restless leg sysdom.... ashma due to weight problems with hips do to my weight ,,,,, i will do what ever takes to get apoved i need to get healthy... i have blue cross ... i work lowes dis center so happy got some good ins..... i have go to semiar sat in al heights thats where docs going be seeing,. my daughters aunt helped me ,, she went though there ,,, she said there aswome there.......i think once get it done it will help with my job so hard to get off the ground when u are heavy.. well here little about me .. im mother of 3 kids of my own and step kids .. so have 4 now ,, i been gaining wieght since 1997 ,, was skiney most of my young life,,,,, i move rockford il , in feb 12 2008 from buffalo ny ,, i love it here ,,, well there little ,, hope hear more from u gusy

Hi Brandie. I am new here but I will share with you what I had to go through. I started this back in May 2008 and I too had to do 6-month medically supervised diet and nutrition classes, psych evaluations, etc. My paperwork was submitted in October 2008 but I was denied within 2 weeks...well needless to say the coordinator in my program was like a pitbull and we were not giving up...so we resubmitted and I wrote a letter to my insurance company and within a week I had an approval. I had my surgery on 01/06/09 and it has seriously changed my life! So whatever hoops you have to jump through...know in the long run it is worth every tear you shed!

good morning Brandie and welcome to the IL board, I had my seminar in Aug, 07 did my test and had surgery in Oct. 07, so for me it was very fast.

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
It was pretty much the same for me. I started my WLS journey with my insurance company in February 2008 and finally had the surgery in February 2009, three weeks ago. My insurance company required a letter of recommendation from my primary care physician, a three month supervised diet and 6 months of psychological counseling. After I completed that, I found my surgeon at the Kane Center in Arlington Heights. Going through their required appointments and tests took another three months. I am so glad it took almost a year - It really helped me to be in the right place emotionally and physically before surgery. No regrets!
