Sunday Roll Call
Dave, could you share your steps for starting your sunflowers from seed? Do you need to transplant them a couple of times due to how fast and big they get? I was thinking of going with some of the smaller varieties of sunflowers instead of the tall ones. That is if I can get the dwarf variety at the nursery. If I cannot I more than likely will just get the big variety and transplant them to the ground instead of in a container.

I don't do anything special. I plant the seeds in egg a cardboad egg carton filled with potting soil.
I put them in the sunlight, under a window, and put a little water on them at nights. Not too much because I don't want them to leak through the cardboard and onto the floor.
Sometimes I set them under an empty fishtank turned upside down.
When they get about 4-5 inches tall I plant them outside. (It usually only takes a week or so.
The cardboard is usually pretty soft by time I plant them so they just peel off.
Sometime I put a little Miracle Grow in the potting soil when first seed them.

Kim, you can get the growing system from Burpee at Home Depot. At the store I went to it was right at the entrance. It is called Burpee Seed Starting-Ultimate Growing System. It grows 72 plants and has everything you need except the light source and water. They also sell them in a 36 plant version. I am not sure if you can get that at Home Depot or not. You might need to get it online from Burpee. I am going to guess that other nurserys or big box stores carry a variety of different products.
By the way if Osco & Home Depot has seeds already then Wally World will, as Target etc will have them.

Good Morning Christine and the rest of my IL family,
Have a fun day doing those things Chris...it sounds like a good time.
As for me, I am doing nothing today until I have to pick up the boys at 3:30pm. I cleaned out our laundry room closet and the entire laundry room yesterday which doesn't sound like much, but it's the closet where everyone just throws things. Honest, there was a pile of "stuff" about 3 ft high. It's now spotless with a shelf for things and places to hang the broom and mops. I also vacuumed and cleaned the entire laundry room. It felt good to have it done.
Have a wonderful, warm and safe day everyone!

Good Moring all my friends,
Today is a relaxing morning, and then we are going to see Noah from 1-3pm for visiting time. They have him off most of his meds and Im not sure if they are planing on keeping him off the meds or starting new ones. I have a staffing for him tomorrow to see what the plan is. I so miss him here, but want to make sure he is better before we bring him home. It is always a mixed blessing when he goes into the hospital, One: he is not here causing all the issues that he does, but Two: He is not here for the good times either. It is so hard to send him there, but I know it is for the best.
Tomorrow I see Dr. Wallace to see if I have an ulcer, or some kind of problem with my RNY. I have been having alot of discomfort with eating and a dull aching pain in my stomach and chest for a couple of weeks now. I also have alot of nausea and I am not able to drink like I used to. I used to be able to drink all day long and no problem, now to drink, even sips, hurts and I am so thirsty. I do feel a little dehydrated and tired. Anyway, I hope Dr Wallace has some answers for me tomorrow. It is so hard taking care of me when I have so much other stuff going on.
I hope everyone enjoys their day and stay warm! Spring really is coming!

Good Morning Christine and Illinois Friends!
I am up and about. Just realized that it is actually afternoon. Been putzing around today. I need to get in gear and start doing some laundry. Yesterday was busy. I had my class to teach. Then when I came home I started IM'ing a friend and we talked for about an hour. Then caught up with OH and a phone visit with my sister. I dont see laundry in there anyplace, so that leaves today.
Actually, the weather was still killing my knees yesterday so going up and down the stairs was out. Hopefully today I can do this. I need clean clothes.
I joined facebook yesterday. I decided to see what the hoopla was all about. Kinda of neat. Amazing how many people are on there that you know! I can see spending lots of time on there. Oh no! another way to lose myself on the computer!
Tomorrow, I need to call into work and get my furnace figured out. I think I will definitely be replacing it. This year you get a tax deduction for new furnaces and since it is 15 years old and only has a life span of 15 to 20 years, I think I will take advantage of the tax deduction rather than sink another $500 + into an old furnace. Ouch but in the long run I think that is the better decision.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone,
I appreciate all your support, 3 more weeks to go, I'm excited but at the same time I feel bad because I cheated on my liquid diet twice. I feel I may have gone a bit overboard. I am jumping back on track...not gonna let the food beat me.
At this point, I'll take it one shake at a time, while chewing on a carrot every so often until my surgery date.
Today I'm just kicked back, relaxing with my feet up. Glancing at the TV while my beautiful wife types this note for me (I paid him to say that)...she's the fast one you know.
Thanks to all and anymore advice you have is always appreciated. God Bless.
