ULCER?
Has anyone ever had an ulcer post RNY?
I have been under so much stress lately, actually really bad for the past 6weeks or so. I have a dull pain in my mid chest on and off, and sometimes I cant eat without the pain, sometimes I can. I used to be able to drink alot of water, and now I can only just sip or I get the pain.
Cottage cheese seems to go down well, and sometimes soup or moist fish. It is not that is feels stuck like I would think an obstruction would be. It is like dull to burning pain.
I did call Dr. Wallace's office on Tues and talked to a nurse and she reccommended to come in and see him. I made an apt but the first avail was next Wed. So I took it. Today I ate two small cheese sticks for breakfast/lunch in the car, and it made me so nauseaus. Then the pain came back especially when I tried to drink my water later.
I called the office back and spoke to another nurse and she was able to move up my apt to Monday, and told me if it kept bothering me I should go to the ER. I hate using the ER just to speed up treatment, so here I am at home.
The nausea just started today, and isnt horrible, but bothersome. Im sure it is all the stress which leads me to believe it may be an ulcer. I have never had one before, but that is what both nurses said to me. They also said I may need to be "scoped", ( oh my) and I am worried about all of this. I also have a headache most of the time, but I chalk that up to minimal dehydration.
My Noah has had such a rough couple of months, and we had to hospitilize him a week ago Wed for behavior issues and side effects he is having from his meds. So the stress level here is through the roof! I have been there almost everyday for meetings, staffings, visits, and parenting sessions. Then I come home and try to spend some time with Brigid and make dinner, take care of the house etc... That is one of the reasons I havent had time to post. We are going through a very tough time here, and still trying to live some sort of life, and I dont want to take time out to add another problem to our list.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would be happy to listen and could use the support.
Thanks again for listening to me, and sorry I havent posted much but I have been trying to read as much as I can. I am going to try to go to the ABMC support group in the morning and see if anyone there has any ideas.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I never have had an ulcer but it kind of sounds like one. I thought I had one right before Christmas and put off calling the doctor but it finally calmed down after I went to bland foods for awhile. I drink a lot of K2O lemonade and I think that was beginning to do it for me. I think I caught mine in time.
You really need to get it checked out. You really have been under a lot of stress and that plus this surgery would make you a good candidate. Better to have it checked out and be safe. Have you tried to drink anything other than water? When I had the stomach flu it hurt to drink water, but found I could drink G2 by gatorade and it did not hurt. It has electorlytes in it so would help with dehydration as you dont want to get dehydrated.
I hope Noah is doing better.
Hope you feel better soon. Hugs.
