R. O. D. Chicken Noodle Soup
I cannot take credit for this recipe as I found it on the internet before Christmas. It is the recipe that I found to give away. You assemble the dry ingredients, put in an airtight glass jar and fancy it up with rafia, ribbon or colorful yarn etc. I also made my own tags with the directions (pre printed on the computer). I also put the ingredient list on the opposite side of the label. I always have the ingredients on hand in the house because it makes a fast meal. I will place a picture of the jar in my profile.
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP MIX
4 cups wide egg noodles
2 tbsp dried minced onion
2 tbsp chicken bouillon granules
2 tsp celery flakes
1 tsp pepper
Bring 10 cups of water to a boil in a large soup pot. Add the Chicken Noodle Soup Mix. Add canned chicken with the water, breaking it up with a fork. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer uncovered for 12-15 minutes or until noodles are tender.
If you want to make it as a gift you will need a 1 qt wide mouth canning jar. I bought mine at The Container Store across from Woodfield Mall. I got the one that has the rubber gasket with a snap lid. I will add the link for the where I got the recipe at the end. It says to layer the ingredients but you really cannot because it just falls through all the noodles. If you put the noodles on top of the dry ingredients then you do not have room for all the noodles. So I just put the noodles in first then the dry ingredients and it all slid right on through. I pre make zip lock bags with all the indredients and keep it in my pantry with the canned chicken.
Sorry, I do not have the break down of nutritional values. I am sure there is someone out there that has a program to do that.

The two photos of the jars are in my photo album titled "Christine's Photos".

Good idea Christine, I think I will make a few jars up to keep on hand for those nasty cold days yet to come. Earl is dealing with a cold now too and chicken soup always seems to help. I saw Lisa's post about making it into a basket for Christmas, so have to copy and paste this all in my Christmas idea file for next year.
have a great Sunday, Paulette
