How many calories do we need in order to lose weight?
I am afraid I am not getting enough calories to lose weight.
I am about 9 weeks out and I am taking in about 450 - 600 a day.
What do you thing?
My next appointment with the MD is on the 20th and I haven't weighed myself since January 2nd.
I don't know if I am losing or not? I don't have a scale that can get my weight on.
I am just scared about my coming appointment. I really want to be under 400lbs. Its a first goal. That would be about 85 lbs in about 10 weeks.

Hi Dave!
The best advice will probably come from your surgeon's office/nutritionist. They should have an amount that you should be shooting for at this stage.
That being said (my nutritionist is not really ANY help), I would think that you HAVE to be losing weight at the calorie level that you are at right now. Long term, 450-600 will be way too low for proper nutrition and you will work your way up to (probably) and average of 1200-1500.
I hope you gleaned some sort of help from answers on the main board. I don't go there very often but I might try to check it out if I get the time today.
Try not to worry. If you are following your surgeon's program, you will lose, especially in the first 6 months.
