Topic: RE: OT What does it really cost to live in Hawaii

I live on Kauai. Mt. Waialeale is here, it's the wettest spot on earth. Great for irrigation/farming. We have one correctional facility here. And 2 main hospitals. You'd both be able to find jobs here. Keep in mind it is very expensive to live here but so worth the trade off of being in a close knit community for raising children. It's very easy to keep tabs on your kids here. But in any area, there tend to be hoodlums and hassles but not so much as with a large city. Population on this island is around 60 thousand.......

Good luck and keep in touch if you'd like more info.

Topic: OT What does it really cost to live in Hawaii
Hello all I was wondering if I could get some input from some of you folks on just what it costs to live there. We are looking to make a move somewhere and Hawaii is one of our choices due to the climate.

She is a Medical Director of a large Correctional Facility and I retired from the same Facility as a Correctional Officer/ Shift Supervisor  Now I own and operate a small Trucking Company I only have 4 trucks but do  really well with what I have.

I realize that she can find employment most anywhere with her level of education and I could find some type of Business to get involved in. But we are both looking  to just slow down  and watch our two young children grow up and mature into young ladies.

We currently live in Florida and just want to get away from this area completely we have no Mortgage or Car Payments and can afford to pay cash for a home. Within reason of course, so if any one could give some advice as to what are the better areas to live where we could raise our girls away from the hoodlums and hassles it would be appreciated. We would like to be in the farming area or at least out of the city at any rate. Thank you in advance for any help, considerations, or suggestions that you may have.

Hi Alice, I'm doing fine.  Wow, the board is really slow...   I've lost 132 pounds so far, it's slowed down but am glad with the results so far.  Most people don't recognize me (till I open my mouth and start talking  LOL), but it's all good.   I can't complain about this experience because it's been a wild ride.

 Aloha, Kris
