Has anyone used Dr. Christopher Hart???

Hey Guys, I am so sorry to hear about Janice Spivey..I am friends with one of her family members. It appears she had internal bleeding for several weeks and the day she died, she collapsed in the driveway waiting on an ambulance....She was a nurse and I am not sure why she did not get the proper medical care... My friend is begging me not to have the surgery...I have been fat all my life and I have seen more success stories than failures. I have prayed alot about what I should do..... This website has really given me a better understanding what this surgery is all about... I am waiting for insurance approval which should be in the next week or so. Has anyone had Dr. Hart as a patient? Please let me know.... Thanks for your assistance.....

Hi Tracy, I am not a Dr. Hart patient, but there are MANY on this board, so I am sure you will be hearing from them soon. I have a personal friend (not a member of this website) that used him, and is doing great, and she was very pleased. I was interested in what you said about Janice. Internal bleeding? Do they know what was the cause?? I know this is very scary to read, especially when you are just getting started on your journey. Regarding your friend urging you not to have the surgery. This is a very personal decision, so please don't think I am trying to pursuade you one way or another. I had many people that tried to discourage me. I had to make the decision of what was best for ME. I had a nagging feeling I was not going to live longer than about another 5 yrs, so I just decided I would take my chances. I researched the POO out of the surgery and asked a GAZILLION questions. I used the main board a lot for questions, as you sometimes get a better sampling, since there are so many more people that frequent there. (Just don't pay any attention to the goobers that get on there and feel the need to bicker! LOL!) I guess what I am saying is....do what YOU feel is right in your heart. YOU know what is right for you, and no one else is living in your body. Yes...sometimes bad things happen to wonderful people, and it is TERRIBLE. However, the same thing happens in life even if you are NOT overweight. None of us ever know from one day to the next what life holds for us, and we must live our lives as we see fit. Hi Tracy, Dr Hart was my surgeon and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. The only major problem I saw at the office was not enough office staff (mainly answering phones) but that has been addressed with the addition of a bariatrics coordinator, another receptionist, and another nurse. Do you go to his monthly support meetings? The next one will be the first Wednesday in August. They are held by Northside hospitial. I also attend a weekly meeting (also on Wednesday) in Lawrenceville that probably about 6 - 10 of his patients come to. Please join us sometime. Tracy, I used Dr Hart and was most pleased with him and his office staff. He is with you all the way and does not hold anything back. He tells you exactly as it is.....no strings attached....there are several more of us on here that are Dr Hart patients and I am sure most of them will say the same thing. I am not a Dr. Hart patient either. I am so sorry that this happened to Janice and my prayers are with her family and friends, I to would like to know what caused this as Lorie Brown stated that they believe it was a bloodclot that ultimately took Janice's life and as we all know that could happen to anyone. My PRAYERS are with you all, and it is ultimately up to you whether to make your decision or not. If you know that your quality of life would be better then it might work for you, thats what you have to base it on. Best of Luck, Melissa

I used Dr. Hart and I had zero problems. I really like him, though I had a couple of issues with staff members. He is a very caring doctor and I would use him again in a heartbeat. Ann in Duluth

Dr. Hart is awesome! I've had NO problems at all, and I just love his nurse too! They offer great follow-up and support.
