Ok guys here is my sob story...I am 3 weeks out as of yesterday. I went to my post op visit on Monday I have lost 23 lbs since surgery on 06/29. So altogether pre and post op I have a loss of 45lbs. I had to go for a Upper GI yesterday. because of the pain I am experiencing when eating and drinking (especially water). That was the worst test!! I had to drink a whole cup of white gook!! I almost ran out of there kicking and screaming. Its so hard to get the protein and vitamins in. I have not found a shake that I can tolerate and yogurt is worse. All I want to eat is fruit. I put it in the chopper and its delicious, but I know I can't do this for long. I won't get the results back from the tests ran on yesterday till Friday I'm told. I am so miserable guys I don't want to eat and twice I have cried myself to sleep out of frustration. Any suggestions? Does anyone use unjury protein powder in their meals? And if so can you taste it? I have spent so much $$$ on stuff I can't tolerate. Help!

Caren, I am so sorry you're feeling so bad. I am still pre-op, so I can't say I've been there, but I can comment on Unjury. I had bought two large cannisters right before my original surgery date and was already using it in lots of things - Creme of Wheat, puddings, etc. I liked it so much that I've used up both cannisters and am ordering more (this was the unflavored). I felt like it gave me lots of energy when I was working out, and seemed to cut the hunger pangs. You can even mix it with apple sauce, and add a dab of water if it gets too thick. Hopefully, you'll get past this rough spot soon. Good luck, Barb in S. GA

Awwww...I'm sorry you're having such a time. I absolutely LOVE the UNJURY shakes. The chocolate in particular to me, tastes like Mayfield's chocolate milk. I sometimes take frozen strawberries, whole, unsweetened from grocery store, drop in 5-6 and add extra splenda and it freezes it like a Wendy's smoothy. You can add any fruits you like to the vanilla as well, cut up a banana, freeze the small pieces, drop it in the blender with milk and protein powder. Frozen blueberries work...any frozen fruit if you want a more "milkshake consistency." I usually have to add the extra sweetener though if I add fruit. You can even add fruit from a can in light syrup, but go easy in case you have a reaction to too much sugar. I truly will drink it as a "treat" sometimes if I'm just craving something that is close to ice cream. They had samples that you can order online. www.unjury.com that are reasonable, before you order the canister. I don't have any packets or I'd share. Good luck!

Hi Caren, I am sorry you are feeling so bad .. I honestly know what you mean about not finding a shake you can tolerate. I still at 15 months out still can not tolorate ANY shake .... YUCKY!!! I went to my local GNC and bought protein drinks that are like kool-aid there is a grape and a fruit punch flavor. They are called precision protein by EAS and there is 42 grm of protein in each 20oz drink. I will lift you in prayer, Sheila -125lb

Carolyn, Thanks so much. Your message really made me take think and I called My doc and he said I can try Pepsid. I hope it works I can see that it may be reflux because sometimes I can feel burning in my throat and I have been experiencing heartburn. Caren

Oh girl... I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. I LOVE and SWEAR by Unjury. I use the chocolate with skim milk. It's my breakfast every morning, and I am a year out. LOVE IT. I am going to try some of the unflavored, and try mixing it with my oatmeal. I sure hope everything turns out ok and you get some relief real soon. Tami

Caren, Sorry you're having a hard time. I am now 9mts out, lost 145lbs since I started this journey, from a size 26/28 to a 10/12 and weigh 165lbs. I had some of the problems you've been having also, it does get better in time. I still have problems even today getting protein down; I keep on trucking. Relax, wait & see what your tests say, try taking real small bites or sips of your food/drink intake, stop rest then try again. Hope this helps. Hang in there girl, there is light at the end of the tunnel and you're be just fine! Take care! Stay in touch! ki
