This is my very first post, and I have problem that ya'll might be able to help with. My surgery was June 20th, and I am already on the losing side!!! yea!!! It is only 5 pounds or so, but hey I am losing!! The area around where the jp drain was put in, is just about raw from the tape holding the gauze in place. Thank goodness this is just a temporary dilemna, as I only have to keep the gauze on until Tuesday or so. Do yal'll in all your infinite wisdom have any solution for this situation? Any

Congrats Norma on making it to the losing side... Now for your delemna... If you can get to a place that sells medical supplies, there is some tape that is for sensitive skin called Hypa-fix, or by another maker called Me-fix tape. It is pretty expensive, but well worth the cost if you are like me and allergic to adhesives like I am. Because I work in a Wound Center, I was lucky enough to learn about this tape. Also, for me, my JP Drain was not taped in placed, but was held with a few sutures, and I didn't have to keep them covered and taped down. Hope this info helps... And while this tape is kind of expensive, if your skin is so sensitive, it is a good thing to keep around the house. Susan Lap RNY 12-1-04 285-189-155 (-96)

I don't have any suggestions, but wanted to say congratulations on gettig to the losing side. I am just a little further up 400 than you... had surgery last Novembera, and I am down between 85 and 90 pounds. This is a miracle ! Feel free to email if I can help you with anything

Hi Norma, Welcome to the losing side. Sounds like you might be having a little allergic reaction from the tape. I have that problem myself. They make a skin prep that you can use prior to putting on the tape. Clean area good with soap and water. Apply skin prep let it dry then put the tape on. This works great. I am also a nurse and we use this frequently. You can buy this at a pharmacy that sells alot of dressings and stuff like that. Good luck. If I can be of any more assistance or just need someone to talk to let me know. I had my surgery on June 21, 2004. I have lost 150 lbs. Dona
