Help!! I'm not sure about this "feeling" I have!
Hi everyone,
I need some advice please!! I have this "Full" feeling I guess you would call it. It feels sort of like a lump is in my throat. I am not vomiting or anything like that, it is just uncomfortable. It started yesterday and I still have it today. My surgery was 1 week ago today. I just started with full liquids 2 days ago and have had cream soup, protein drink, cottage cheese and a little bit of tuna with mayo. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't know what to do. So far today all I am doing is drinking because I am scared that I might screw something up! Help!!!!

Valerie!
I was not allowed to have any solids until I was about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks out. Did your doctor give a list of foods to eat? Don't think you have screwed anything up. If you are in pain or any discomfort call your doctor immediately. It could be that you did eat solids a little too early. My first 2/3 weeks were of oatmeal runny 1/3 cup, 1/2 packet runny grits, milk, protein drinks, etc. Make sure that when you eat, you chew your food up really really good. Chew 35 times a bite to ensure you are grounding up your food. If you still have this feeling, try to make yourself throw up if the food you ate is lodge in the throat, it'll come back out. If i can be of further assistance email me at [email protected]. Also, if you sometimes eat just a little too fast or too much you will get a full feeling but it usually near your middle left under your left/center breast line. Stay in touch. ki
Karen;
Thanks for your response. The doctor did give me a list and I also had other info and I have been rereading everything over and over. I feel a lot better today and I have gone back to liquids. I think I added the tuna at the wrong time. I am beginning week 2 and I am going to try the runny oatmeal and grits. I am still struggling with how to get the protein down. I am a diabetic and it seems everything that has protein has sugar in it also. Any ideas?

Hi Valerie,
Gluecerna has a protein drink made for diabetics. I thought it was gross tho. I came acrossed the Atkins protein drinks and they aren't bad, although I have to let the ice melt in them to make them thinner. ALso, use a straw. It seems THE POUCH also controls the nose... go figure.
If you can handle milk, it is a good source of protein. I sip on a 4 oz. glass of skim. Another way I've gotten protein in is through yogurt. If you like it there are a few no carb options in the dairy case. Atkins are good but kind of pricey. Blue bunny makes one which is pretty good and only cost 50 each at wally world.
Good luck, I am 4 weeks out today and still feeling miserable...
