I am scheduled to have the deudonal switch surgery on November 2nd. For those people that have had this surgery; what are some good foods to eat afterwards? Also, what is the recovery time before you can usually eat solid foods again? Thanks Lee

Here's a link to the DS board. There are a bunch of really nice folks over there that will answer just about any question you can have. Good Luck! http://obesityhelp.com/forums/DS Becky

Hi Lee, I reposted you question on the DS board. High protien foods are going to be your concentration: shrimp, fish, tuna, chicken, pork, beef etc. Usually you will be eating within a week. Check the DS board on OH for better answers. Also check www.duodenalswitch.com

Hi Lee Congradulations on your DS surgery I am almost 3 months post-op and can eat anything I want It will depend on your surgeon on what kind of diet you get the first few weeks. My surgeon give me free reign the day he released me from the hospital. He said to eat what ever I could tolerate. I started out eating alot of eggs and cheese also alot of protein drinks and protein bars. By the second week I was eating chicken, hamburger, roast beef, pork chops, sausage steamed vegies and I drink alot of milk, which by the way is 1 protein gram per ounce, 20 0z glass of milk =20 grams protein. You might try some soups, tuna fish, yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, bananas, peaches. Also make sure you get in plenty of fluids cause you dont want to get dehydrated while trying to heal up Every one is different and all surgeons recomendations are different So just follow his instructions and everything will be just fine Good Luck and come on over to the DS board some time and let us know how you are doing Hubba
