Dr. Duncan in Atlanta?
Just wanted to find out how many of you have used him. I'm going to his seminar next Saturday and just wondering about your experience with him and his staff. Also, I see he does surgery at Atlanta Medical is that a good hospital?? Do they have a bariatric wing?? Any feedback that you think I might want to know would be wonderful. Thanks

Hi Tracy,
I hope that you check out many surgeons because in ATL there are a lot of good surgeons. I used him and would not recommend him. I also stayed at Atlanta Medical and would not recommend that hospital at all. Dr. Daly is my surgeon now and is following me and I could not be happier. I wish you well with your process and do hope that you find a surgeon whom you like as well as trust.

Tracy,
Congratulations on looking into WLS. It is a tough road, but so worth it,. (imho) I went to Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics for my RNY last year. I found Dr Duncan and his staff to be very personable, friendly and helpful durning my research into wls and they have been wonderful for my post op as well. Dr Duncan did not do my surg, his partner Dr Hobson did, and he is just as wonderful. Atlanta Medical Center does have a bariatric floor and are very understanding to the needs of the bariatric patients that they see there. AMC is one of a few certified Bariatric facilities in Georgia, so when you start looking into different Doctors and facilities, make sure they are an approved Bariatric facility.
If you have any questions reguarding PS&B, please don't hesatate to contact me.
Good Luck with everything!

Thanks so much. It's soo hard to choose a surgeon. Because everyone I talk to thinks their surgeon is the best. I am going to Dr. Duncan's seminar on Saturday and see how I feel about him. Some people wrote me and said that with him they felt like they were just a number and that all he was after was the almighty dollar. So, I'm confused about why some would love him and think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread and others hate him. But I guess this seminar will either make him or break him for me.
You also have to realize that he has a very busy practice. He also does other forms of surgery, not just bariatric. Maybe those people did not receive the "touchy feely" that they wanted. If you are interested in having someone highly qualified and one of the best at what he does, then Dr. Duncan is for you.
Again, go to the seminar and make the decision for yourself.

Hi Tracy, tomorrow I will be two weeks out with my surgery. I did use Dr. Duncan's office. I had my initial consult with Dr. Hobson but it was actually Dr. Rashid who did my surgery. I'm not sure why the switch from Hobson to Rashid but my initial impression of both surgeons were very favorable. The morning of surgery Dr. Rashid came down to the surgery holding area and we talked briefly. She also came back to check on me after the surgery and again prior to me being released. I found her concern and her bedside manner to be outstanding. They do have a bariatric wiing. The nursing staff wasn't exceptional but they did their job. I actually have no complaints and would recommend them to others.
