Anyone else have to do this?

I had an appointment on Monday to go for a nutrition class as I am sitting there the dietician told the class that we had to do a 4 week diet and exercise program before she will decide if we're ready to see the surgeon for our 1st appointment. So, I assumed that just meant I needed to watch my calories she said keep under 1200, keep a food diary and start exercising...on my Gazelle that I have at home. Well, so I decided to email her and she said No that unless I have a weight machine at home that would not work. That I would have to join a gym and get a personal trainer. So there would be documentation. Is this the biggest bunch of crap you have ever heard or what? So, now I am thinking about going to another dr's seminar on 11/2. Anyone have any thoughts on this?? Do all dr's do this?

I would find another doctor if he demands this as a requirment for surgery.

That's what I intend on doing. I was thinking about going to Dr. Smith but I called my insurance to see if we can go out of network and I was told my company specifically said no WLS if out of network. So, I am going to go to Dr. Duncan's seminar next saturday and see what happens.

Unless things have changed, my doctor in Decatur(next to Atlanta) has no pre-surgery requirements other than the bowel prep 48 hrs. before surgery. Dr. Steinberg (surgical associates) (404) 501-7081 I wouldn't like the idea of *proven* exercise I coudn't do on my own either. I am always watching my money and it would personally irritate the **** out of me if I was told I had to do that as a requirement! Kia

Yeah I know. I have to keep to a budget and don't have the extra cash laying around to hire a personal trainer and join a gym.
