UPDATE ON MY ROCK STAR SON!!!!

Well, Went to Nashville this weekend, as you know my son's band got into Belmont's (his college) Pop/Rock Showcase. (They were 1 of 4 acts chosen from ALL the bands/singers that auditioned). The winner of the showcase, goes on to the "Best of the Best" showcase, that is held in April, and broadcast throughout Nashville. Belmont's musical celebrity alumni include such names as Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, Josh Turner, Julie Roberts and past Best of the Best performer Brad Paisley. Well....drumroll please................................ HIS BAND WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO exciting! Their music is very hardcore, and not your typical "SHOWCASE" type band. I spoke to a couple of the judges after the "after party" and one of them told me, that when they were trying to decide to put Sophia (name of Keith's band...means "WISDOM" in Greek) through as the winner, she told the other judges, "It was time Belmont SHOOK THINGS UP A LITTLE!" So they WON!! WOO HOO!! She went on to say, that although the music isn't HER type either, that there is definitely a market for their music. AND when she realized that Keith was MY son, she says, "OH!! HE can REALLY sing!"! WOO HOO!! There were 3 other acts. 2 individual singer, and another band. Before Keith's band came up, the kids started chanting "SO-PHI-A, SO-PHI-A" ! Their performance was to consist of 3 new songs (Our kids write all their own music), but they announced for their last song, they were going to play one off their newly released CD, the crowd started screaming as soon as they hit the first chord, and these kids KNEW THE WORDS to MY SON's music!! WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, needless to say, it was a very difficult drive home from Nashville.....what with my head being so swollen that I could HARDLY fit it in my little VW! LOL! I'm so proud of these kids, and the really AWESOME part, is we are talking about 6 REALLY GOOD, Christian boys, with not only a love for music, but also for God, family and doing good. How LUCKY am I???? Ok...stepping down off my bragging pedestal now. Resume normal activity!! ****HEE HEE!! STILL GRINNIN' THOUGH!!! ****

OMG, I didn't know your son was at Belmont. My daughter is at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville as well. Actually her financial counselor has just moved over to Belmont as head of EVENTS! His name is David Graham. Keep in touch girl! it'S BEEN FAR TO LONG. eLLE
