I talked to my doctor yesterday and I have a date... September 26, 2005. I have so many emotions running through my head; elation, excitement, nervousness, fear, trepidation, happiness, shock. I cannot believe I just began this journey. I thought it would take much longer than 6 weeks to go from sending it to the insurance to getting a date. I am just counting my blessings that the journey to now has been so swift! Any last minute advice?

Kristi, CONGRATULATIONS on your date!!!!!!! Things to take to the hospital...bedroom slippers and chapstick!! The bedroom slippers for walking, and the chapstick for taking the edge off your lips since you cant have anything to drink for 24 hours after the surgery. Things NOT to take...nightgowns...I just stayed in those wonderful hospital gowns the whole time that I was in the hospital. Where are you having your surgery...Emory Dunwoody?? They provide very nice robes, so no need to take one with you to the hospital. Too bad that these robes dont shrink as you are shrinking...lol And the nurses there are so attentive. Take care. Norma

I know you are nervous, so was I 4 years ago. My surgery was hardly a blip on the screen, it went so smoothly. I've never heard of anyone who would not do it again. Dr. Champion is a good doctor, I'm sure everything will go great. My surgery was so much bigger in my own mind than it turned out to be in reality. Like our moms said, nothing is ever as bad as we think it will be............and that is so true in the case of WLS. Good luck.

Congrats to you Kristi!!! What a change in life you are about to undertake! It will be great...just do what you are supposed to do. For the hospital, don't worry, they'll have everything you need. Coming home, take it slow. Be nice to yourself. My 2 biggest regrets, that I'd like to see others avoid? 1) I didn't exercise early on. BIG MISTAKE!! I had the opportunity to burn more calories than I was taking in and I didn't do it. 2) I started adding carbs WAY too soon. It REALLY slows you down, and can prevent you from meeting goal. Keep those things in mind. I wish you all the best Kristi!!! God Bless! Tami

Great Kristi! I'm in Harris County and am looking at Dr. Champion..I'm not sure what I want if it's the sleeve or the banding. I go the the third Thursday of this month to talk about it. Kathryn
