/Waves Hello Hi everyone, I am new to Georgia and am looking for a support group/network. I am a little over a year post op ( 7/26/05) and I have lost 106 lbs and feel great. Now that Im able to eat most things in a bit larger quantity w/o feeling ill, Ive started eating a few things I know arent so great for me and I see some old patterns starting to rear their ugly heads. Before it takes control over me again, I would love to meet some other people who struggle with the same things I do daily. We were all complusive eaters ( well most of us) and that is how we ended up the way we did - I just never want to see that path again. If you know of any good support groups in the Cheerokee/Cobb Co. areas, I would love to know more about them. THanks and I look forward to getting to know you guys through your posts . ALy

Aly, Welcome to Georgia... I hope that you will enjoy living here. We have lots of people from the Atlanta area on the Georgia board. We generally try to get together once a month and go to lunch or dinner. In fact, our next get together is 9/16 at Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. Look for the post from Kay Holder, and it has all the details there. Sorry that I do not know about any support groups in Cobb/Cherokee County area. Hi Alicia, Welcome to Georgia! There is a support group meeting the 3rd Thursday at the Windy Hill Exchange Building in Marietta. It is run by Dr Dennis C. Smith but I believe anyone can come. For more information you can call 770.919.7050 There is also the WINGS around Atlanta meeting the 3rd Saturday of the month which is a non surgeon specific support group. It meets in Atlanta (really Tucker/Doraville area, its near the 85-285 interchange). It was started by 2 ladies who were looking for a support group 5 years ago and it is still going strong.
