Actually, I am not going crazy, I just thought it be a good Headline to get you to read this! I am doing.... eh...ok. I am a little worried I am now down to 337, and... holding steady for 3-4 days not loosing any weight.... which now I am worried. I probably know my own question, I have stepped up my work outs, and I am up to walking over a mile. *go me*, so it may be my muscle mass is what is gaining, and we all know muscle weighs more than fat....maybe.
However I am just not loosing weight, is it the muscle being built up, I am not 100% sure... I been doing those little dumb-bell weights, which working on my chest, and arms... the walking is working my legs... so WHO knows.
One question, I have been noticing when I eat, man do I get sleepy... I have 1/2 cup of soup and then I am ready for a nap... WHAT gives? If anyone knows the answer to that mystery, please let me know.
Miles
Hi Miles, it is VERY common to hit a plateau about 3 wks out or so....Just about every one of us came on with a similiar post as yours. Don't fret....that scale will move again...your body has been through quite a change, and is just adjusting...
I don't know what to tell you about getting sleepy after eating though! LOL!
I bet you'll be posting that you are dropping again very soon!

When I get super sleepy from eating, it's usually a food which for me is like a mini dump: For example, a bowl of cereal will always make me sleepy; every time. I don't know if it is the milk sugar or the carbs from the cereal but that combo always works to put me to bed lol.
In your case though, I think it's just post surgery body repair stuff. I too was really bone tired for a while post op but I cannot remember now if it was more so after I ate. I did lots of naps then
I suggest you go out and buy a cloth tape measure and tape yourself asap. That way, when you think your scale is broken, you can re-tape yourself to prove you are still changing for the better! Trust me, it works.

Well thank you, I happen to think a lot of women on these boards are amazing looking including you and Modean Ryan
so I thank you for the compliment. Now you just need to train my wife to let me know how good looking I am everyday!

I agree With Kia, you are already a good looking man. You'll have women bowing down at you on the streets when you become that "heart throb". I agree with Tami though, I went through the same thing as you as far as the weight goes, hell I've even went 2 months since surgery with NO loss, so don't worry the scales WILL move again.

Miles, you are doing great. My husband and I both had the surgery, and we both went throught he same things you are going through. I'm glad to hear you are feeling good. I remember hitting that first plateau and being tired. I'm tired again because of my iron absorption, but I'm working on that.
You take care of yourself. You are doing GREAT.
hey, have you thought of joining our group at Henry Medical Center in September? We would love to have some guys...I'm trying to get my husband to come...we will just need to find a babysitter.

One way to avoid the trap of anxiousness is to re-focus your mind on dreaming about what your life will look like AFTER you've reached goal weight & re-defined your relationship with (1) food, (2) your body (3) self-expectations in the areas of relationships, work, recreation & health.
To avoid yo-yo dieting sabatage after WLS, you've got to create a future for yourself on the otherside of losing weight;
otherwise, your mind will not be able to imagine life after dieting and will sabotage your efforts so that you're forever either dieting or gaining or dieting or...
I have digitally scanned my article on this subject published in OH MAGAZINE issue #3 2006 & am happy to email it to anyone from this messageboard who emails me.
Also, as a life coach specializing in weightloss and life after that - I lead a support group: THE GA 400 WLS MEETUP on the 3rd THURSDAY of the month. this month's meeting is Aug. 17th. It's FREE to first time visitors.
(We ask for a $1 donation per meeting after that to cover the affiliation costs with meetup.com.)
I fly down to FT. LAUDERDALE for the OH EVENTthe next morning, where I'll be the first speaker of the morning on Saturday.
Anyone from HOTLANTA going to be there?
All the best,
Lauralyn
