Ins advise, please.

Hi All, Is it possible for my insurance to cover Gastric & VBG but NOT Lap Band?? Has anyone ever heard of this? I need advise...I've been trying since March to get approved for Lap Band and suddenly I am told BCBS doesn't cover it under my policy. It just seems to me, if the cover these 2 they would cover Lap Band?? Any suggestions? Thanks! AC

Hey there....YEP that is true....MOST insurance companies prefer to cover RNY over Lap Band since Lap Band is considered still new here in the states. My old insurance company was an exception to that rule though, they approved me for LB not RNY and I had to fight that.....during that fight my husband got BCBS and they approved me right away for RNY and their records show that they do NOT cover LB. Odd since it is less evasive but I guess since its new they dont show much history on it. Good Luck!
