New to the Group-Questions about Doctors
Hello Everyone:
This is my first post to the group. I must say I have learned so much by reading all of the information on this web site. I want to have RNY done. I went to a seminar at Emory last week and got tons of informtion to read. After looking the area about doctors on this site I am wondering if Emory is the place for me. I read about Dr. Hart on this site also.
I would love to hear about some peoples experiences with Dr. Khaitan or Dr. Hart. Why you chose her/him? What you liked best/least about them?
Thanks in advance for your help! :help:
Martha
Hello,
This is also my first reply to any of the questions that I have read, but I just had to share my experience with you. I had a RNY done 3 weeks ago by Dr. Hart at Emory/Dunwoody Medical Center. Dr. Hart is an excellent surgeon and his staff was great as well. They are so genuinely friendly and helpful. They have a good program that thoroughly discusses what you can expect before and after the surgery. If you still have questions, you can call or email them and they will answer them. I think that I hold their record for fast approvals, it only took 2 1/2 months from the first appointment to the surgery.
The hospital was also great. They seem to anticipate every need in advance. Having had a previous abdominal surgery, I was concerned with getting in and out of bed for the first few days. The beds and specially made to completely change into a chair-like position so that when stops you are able to just put your feet on the floor and stand up. No pain! The nurses were great too.
I hope this help, email me if you want to know more...
Hi Martha,
Dr Hart is my surgeon. I chose him because of his skills and the program he had in place. And which has improved even more since my surgery 2 1/2 years ago. I also liked the fact that my consultation was with him and not an assistant or someone else. I've seen him at each follow up appointment also.
He does have a monthly support group meeting the first Wednesday of the month(which will be tomorrow Aug 02). He attends most meetings as do all of the staff (even the receptionist). There have been a couple where he was held up in surgery or out of town. It is located across the street from Emory Dunwoody Hospital at the Atlanta Bariatric Conference Center. (4500 N. Shallowford Road). Anyone is welcome to attend: thinking about surgery, pre ops, post ops, support people...
It lasts from 6-8 pm. There will be a patient panel with a question/answer forum and a special guest at tomorrow's meeting.
I have several friends that have used Dr Khatain and I have met her in a social setting. She is a very caring and skilled dr. However the Emory program, well, it just sucks. I know lots of folks that have started with them and became so frustrated that they switched drs.
Anyways, hope some of this helps. Hope to see you ( and anyone else reading this ) at the support group meeting. Need directions or any other info feel free to call me on my cell phone (678.313.7429)
