Cardiologist / Marietta
Hi everyone,
I just found out today that I must see a Cardiologist and have a stress test. I'm not sure why I've never been told this and this far in the process....one more thing required. This isn't required by my insurance but by my doctor's office.
I live in Marietta; can any of you recommend a Cardiologist in the area? I'd like to go to someone who is familiar with this process. I just think that might make it a little easier. My doctor is in Atlanta so even if the Cardiologist it there, that's fine too.
Thank in advance for your suggestions.
hugs,
Ann

Hi Ann,
My PCP did my stress test. If yours is not equipt to do one I'm sure they can give you a referal locally.
I think it is very routine for everyone to have a stress test before this surgery. Remember they are doing all the preop tests to be sure you are in the best possible shape to have this surgery, to get you through happy, healthy and strong!
It really does take a lot of patience, I remember
Best wishes sweetie. It will all fall together!

Obese people run a high risk of cardiac problems during surgery. Heavier you are the higher the risk. A Cardiologist can assess your risk, check for any heart problems not showing up yet, and let the doctor know if your a candidate for major surgery or not. He/she can also give some warning of things to watch for if you are a candidate but have some minor or not so minor things hiding in the background.
I had a EKG that lead to a Stress Test that lead to a 3D Ultrasound Sound which finally cleared me, as I had already had some other test more invasive test done- he did not need to repeat that test. But in the end everything cleared and I was a candidate from a Heart position for the surgery.
I also had to see a pulmonary doctor during all that as well.
My cardiologist is Dr. Jennifer Collins. She is in Smyrna on S. Cobb Dr. number is 404-778-6540. She goes on maternity leave August 15, so hurry. She is great and has been very supportive of me having the surgery..I'm still int he process of jumping through all the hoops..pulminary eval on tuesday and pcp on friday, so hopefully that will be it and the paperwork can be submitted to my insurance co. good luck.
If Vinings is convienent for you give us a call. We are there 2 1/2 days a week. The doctor I work with as a nurse practitioner is Charles Wilmer. He had better be very WLS friendly because I had my surgery almost 2 years ago. Our Vinings number is 770-437-4258 or you can call the Piedmont office at 404-355-9815!
Good Luck where ever you go
