Looking for a friendly PCP-Lake County

I have had zero luck finding a PCP that I like. I live in Leesburg but I'm willing to drive anywhere in Lake County. When we first moved here, we had a decided to use the same doctor that my folks use. However, it was a 2 month wait for new patient appointments! It got desperate as my husband is Diabetic and had to get his meds all switched over under our new plan with a new PCP. So we found a doctor that neither of us like. He is just cold, rude and arrogant. It's terrible when you call his office, the staff is rude and I get this feeling he does NOT like dealing with FAT people. So..... I am open to any referrals! I vowed never to go back to him, however I may have to. Cigna requires a 6 month physician documented weight loss program prior to approval for RNY, so I want to find someone that I like who doesn't make me feel like a monster simply because I'm heavy. It may look as if I want to find a doctor that embraces overweight people, that is NOT the case. I just want the respect that I give, given back to me. I want to be treated professionally, and feel better when I leave-not reduced to tears. Any help is appreciated! ~LisaG

And you deserve respect. NO ONE should have to go through that. When you go to your doctor you should feel comfortable talking to them about any and everything. You would think he would be encouraging you not being a pain! I wish you luck in your search for a physician. Take care and keep your head up! Keke

I do not live in that area. Maybe you can do a Peer search in the Florida members and find someone who can help you. Or some areas have a Physician Referral system.

I know my girlfriend loves her OB GYN who practices in Mt Dora, but that won't help your husband ;). She is also looking for a good PCP in Lake County, but near Clermont. Good luck

Dr. Patricia Jones in Ocala (she's right next to Dr. Jawad's office) is very nice and she will help you get this surgery. She's great. If they say she is not taking any more patients, take an appointment with anyone you can get, there are several good ones, then you can switch.
