Hi there all...I'm Ruth Santos, single. Live in middle Orlando. I'm a year out and a few days (9/29) and have lost 115 lbs thus far. I am studying medical terminology and see where that leads..want to work in the medical field some where - don't know yet. Am looking to fall in love but am being cautious about people since some guys just aren't gentlemen. I have about 35 - 40 lbs to go but it has been really slow..last 2 months only lost 9lbs and started taking xenadrine (diet pill) which wasn't a good idea, but got off of it and am feeling better, and am exercising..got a little lazy there. I keep on track by being here checking the postings, editing photos for OH and visiting patients that post on my doc's website and give them advice -whatever I can do to feel useful. This is an neverending process..something we always have to work at for the rest of our lives or we're doomed to repeat the past.

Hi Amy and others! What a great idea this is. I met a bunch of Florida people at the OH event in Orlando in July, but there are many I don't know. I loved the people I did meet though. I'm almost 2 1/2 years out from RNY. I am so happy I had this surgery! I feel great and can't believe I wasted almost 20 years in that MO body. It just sort of snuck up on me and while I was always unhappy with how I looked, it wasn't until I started feeling really unhealthy that I finally made the move. While I have reached my doc's goal, I haven't reached my own personal goal and believe me, it definitely gets much harder as time goes by. I urge everyone to learn new habits as soon as they can--cause eating a little bit of everything is really difficult later on. Oh--and my other hint--GRAZING is the devil. LOL, I hang out on the grads board alot and that is the conclusion we have come to--that is the one way to eat around the surgery. I just had a TT with a great doc over in Hollywood 3 weeks ago. I love to golf and hang with my family--hubby and two kids in college. Nice to meet you all! Oh and Laurie--so glad to see you are making progress toward surgery. I think the lap-band is great.

Hi all!! Amy, great idea! I am nearing "old-timer" status on this board (or at least I'd like to think I am LOL) I just turned 24 years old, am married (almost 3 years), no children (just our little chihuahua girl, Shiitake) I had WLS 2/11/05, self pay, and am down 112 lbs, just 25 away from goal and PS! I would like to go for a tummy tuck, or at least a panniculectomy when I hit goal (prob just the panni b/c one day my hubby is demanding children) I currently live in Tampa, but am moving to Lansing, MI in April after graduation b/c I was accepted into Michigan State's BS in Nursing program! I graduate school here in March, so that is perfect timing. I have recently become a shopaholic and need to remind myself that budgets are helpful! (nobody warned me that my wallet would lost weight too!!) I hope everyone is doing well and I would like to say nice meeting ya!! -Phoenix 287/175/150 p.s. Where's Vivi???? Hello Flavia...where ya at?!

Hi Amy & all our Florida Board Folk, My name is Lori and I had my surgery on 8/3 of this year. I live in Rockledge with my twin sister and have been here for 18 years. I am originally from Annapolis, Maryland. I loved crabbing on the Severn River and then eating those crabs in a feast with friends or prepared in crab cakes that is my mom's secret recipe. They are all meat with a little saltine crackers for filler; not like the ones sold here in Florida, yuck! I work for Edward Jones Investments and love my job. I have a great boss who even gave me $100 toward my surgery and has been very supportive of this new step in life for me. I like to read, watch reality TV, golf (but haven't since a year ago due to my weight) can't wait to feel comfortable enough to go again. I also like my elliptical trainer and have been using it as faithfully as I can since WLS. It is great for these bad knees and feet. I absolutely love Florida, even during hurricane season. I have been struggling with my weight loss for the past few weeks and had a really bad experience at my surgeon's last Thur. He was very rude and disrespectful to me and I have been in a major funk since. I haven't had any problems with depression since the surgery, but today I feel really awful with the self-talk and reminder of his words to me. I am 9 weeks post-op and I've lost 30 pounds. Surgeon said at the appt it should be more. Now, here I am, overweight all my life and have had doctors harp on how bad I am at loosing weight. I was totally unprepared in my mind for his reaction to my slow weight loss. It was crushing. So I let the office know that I will not tolerate that type of treatment again, but I'm having a difficult time not comparing myself with the great progress you all are doing. Hopefully, I'll get in the swing of things soon and feel better about myself. Thanks for letting me vent a little too! Lori today 293/263/140
