How much intestines bypassed?

Hi, Is there a method the doctor uses to determine how much intestines is bypassed? How much have you had bypassed? Sharon

i was told it depended on how much weight you needed to loose and that would determine how much they bypass

My surgeon is all about safety and won't do distal bypasses because of the long-term problems associated with it. He does proximal only and I have no idea how much intestine was bypassed. Jan 240/126/115 (at goal size)

Docs have varying opinions on this issue. My surgeon bypasses everybody 125. Good luck to you.

Hi Sharon, I was 228 pounds and my doctor took 125 cm. He told me 130 cm until he got in there. But, 125cm was good enough. I am down to 109 pounds and it has been 17 mouths since my surgery. Take care, Deb
