Getting Nervous...

April,
Don't worry one bit about who is gonna be your angel. We jsut all want to know that you are doing fine after your surgery. I don't beleive anyone would take it personally if you dont pick them....aint nothing but a thang
As far as your upcoming day. Dont feel liek you are the only one that goes through this
I can remember being excited but wanting it to be over with. Granted I am not a smoker..never have been, I am sure if I had I would have been in your position too....You will not regrett having to quite when it is all said and done. Just take it easy and day to day. Noone ever said that quiting smoking or having WLS was ever easy thing to do...but in the end we do.
Praying for the best for you my friend.
Becky

Hang in there April. You have been waiting for this for so long. Just jump in there and enjoy the thoughts of being on the losing side. We are all rootin' for you.
A agree with the bulldog lady. Just pick someone and let them know you want them as your angel. Face it we are all angels in waiting for our OH family so just relax and say yes to one of the angels and the rest will anxiously wait for info. We all care.

April,
You will be just fine, but you are completely normal being a bit nervous. Just have peace in your heart with your decision and no regrets. You also have the support and fellowship of all of us here to get you through the first stages.
As far as the angel situation, I would take the first one *****sponded and be happy you had such a great response. There will be others who will need an angel down the road, they can help out another lucky pre-op and then you and they each pay it forward! I have been an angel a few times and it is nice to know you can be there for someone and share their news with the board.
Hang in there, you will be on the other side soon enough and your worries will be completely different.
Take care,
Amy

April,
When I quit smoking several years ago, I would breathe in very deeply, slowly and deliberately when I really wanted a cigarette. Then I would hold my breath for as long as I could stand it. Then I would exhale slowly and when all the air was out of my lungs, I would try to exhale just a bit more and a bit more and a bit more! I swear this would get out some nicotine that was in my lungs and would make the severe cravings go away. Repeat as necessary.
Good luck and don't worry about the nerves as that's normal.

So excited for your new adventure April. Preparing now pre op will help with post op weight loss, so keep up the good work! I think we will always be with temptations on food. The great thing about wls is that we have time to change our habits and make conscious choices for change.
A few nights ago, there was a wonderful dessert buffet I was at, and it all looked good. I did want to try things....but when I thought of the sugar it was easy to say no. I just had a cup of coffee instead. Its great to say, "no", or "I've had enough to eat". When food has controlled you for so long, and you realize it, its eye opening. I just did not realize how much food controlled me, until I knew I could and did wolf down an apple fritter in an instant, and would eat a whole meal with bread and dessert and be hungry.
Anyway, I am praying God's hand to be upon you and your surgery team. May you recover from anesthesia and surgery without complications, and adjust to the pain medications. Trust God to get you through april, and He will. The power of prayer is strong.
hugs and blessings,
Tami
