Vocational Rehab Question
Yes I was with them back in April of this year. But that was thru medicaid. Medicaid approve me for the surgery but my benifits were going to be cancel before the surgery. So there was nothing that Carey can do for me. But I did complete all of the requirements from the cardiologist to the psy. So all I need is help to pay for the surgery. I started a case with the VOCA rehab office, I need help in that sense. What to say, What to do, How to go about it. Who is the best person to talk to. That biggest problem is where to start.
So if you anyone or can help please inform me. I really appreciate it.
Have a good one.
By the way you look good.
I started by going to their web site and down loading their referral sheet and did a self referral for myself. I fax the referral sheet to the nearest VR office which happen to be in Jacksonville, FL. Within about three days, I received an appointment to come in and discussed my need for wls. The letter listed the information that I would needed to bring with me. My case was accepted on the grounds that my weight will eventfully affect my ability to perform my current occupation. After my initial appointment, VR arranged for my initial appointment with Dr. Jawad and have made arrangement for me to have the required labs and test needed for Dr. Jawad to give to me the necessary recommendation for the wls. The only expense I had to pay for was the nutritional evaluation. Currently, I waiting for the recommendation from Dr. Jawad's office. Once I get that, my package will be sent to Tallahassee for approval. Currently, I doing the waiting game and getting Plan B set in motion in the event VR does not approve me. I hope this will give you a direction to consider.
Good Morning Cynthia, I'm working with vocational rehabilitation right now and they are very optomistic about getting approval for my surgery. The only problem we've run into is to find a hospital and surgeon who is DVR (depart of voc rehab) vendors and will accept payment/vouchers for gastric bypass. I'm calling up hospital after hospital to find out who are venders then contacting the surgeon's who have priveldges at the hospital. So far, Dr Cox is the only office that has a DVR approved hospital however the cardiologist and pulmonologist don't accept DVR. Their next meeting, where you get all the information to become a patient will be in november, Carey said he thought it would be on the 17th and they will not accept new patients under any cir****tances until you've gone to the meeting. To get started, go to voc rehab's information meeting, for us here it was every tuesday at 1pm so look in your phone book or online and get your local office phone number and get started. The sooner the better. It takes along time to get everything done. If you've got anymore questions feel free to email me at [email protected] and by the way, I'm going to Dr.cox's meeting in november unless I can find another surgeon in the meantime.
