Food stamps

I recently recieved a letter today stating they were reducing my food benefits from 149.00 to 10 DOLLARS!!?? I mean why not just take them all away what am I going to do with 10 DOLLARS???

$10.00 is better than nothing at all!! And by still recieving any amount qualify you for other programs such as "LifeLine" for your phone, through your phone company. You'll get the same services but not have to paid for the 911 services and taxes. And there are other programs too. Check with Social Services.

Well I guess if you look at it that way you are right but food is so expensive these days. Thanks for the tips.

Rachel, Can you request clarification as to why your benefit is being reduced (change in your income, family status, etc.) It could be a clerical error or a legitimate reduction. As stated in another reply - even though it isn't much, any food stamp benefit keeps you eligible for other benefits. Good luck. Vickie J.
