Ok. DVR said they'd pay for my weight loss surgery and we've found a surgeon (Dr. Haicken) but we can't find a hospital who will accept DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) vouchers or payment. Morton Plant Hospital, although a vendor of DVR, will not accept payment for Gastric bypass surgery. We have found this problem in Miami, Ft lauderdale, Palm Beach, St Augustine, Tampa, Gainsville, Pensacola and Tallahassee. Does anyone know of a hospital that is a DVR vendor and will accept DVR voucher/payment for gastric bypass surgery? Thanks. Oh yeah, it doesnt matter where in florida it is.

Why won't Morton Plant accept the DVR assignment for gastric bypass? I wrote the suggestion below and then tried it myself and could not get anything to come up for Voc Rehab. I looked under "state", "florida", and "vocational". I know I have seen it listed in the past. So perhaps it was just a server glitch and if you try it later it may work. Anyway it did seem like a good idea at the time! You might try looking at the insurers link above for DVR and then check the people that are listed there to see if they have the hospital they used listed. Good Luck Red

I know that Tallahassee Community Hospital has allowed docs to perform RNY on Voc Rehab patients in the past. The hospital has been remodeled/expanded and is now called Capital Regional Medical Center located in Tallahassee (not to be confused with Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center). Good luck with your journey! Vickie J. 277/175/142

Thanks, both of you. I tried doing the search Red but didn't get anything from my search either. I've called Morton plant personally and am waiting for a response. I've also spoken with Dr Haicken's office staff and none of them are aware of any changes prohibiting weight loss surgery at morton plant hospital. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming, I'm disappointed about whats happened but I'm not giving up.

Momma Smith, I had also gone to DVR for help to get my WLS. I also had Dr Haicken for my surgeon. I spoke to Morton Plant Hospital and said they would acept them. It turned out that my Insurance approved my surgery and didn't need them. While I was waiting for the surgery, DVR declined me. So you saying MPH wouldn't accept payment surpried me. Do you go to the monthly support group at Morton Plant Hospital? It's the second Saturday of each month @ 10am-12noon. I first heard of DVR at one of these meetings. That a lady had it done though them. but she never said the name of the hospital. Sorry. That didn't help. If you come to our support group next month, you can ask them. Julie Douglass may be able to help you. Call her @ Morton Plant. Dr. Haicken drops by @ 11am during our support group to answer questions. He's great!!! You will love him. Not only he's a great person, he's great at what he does. You can't go wrong with him as your surgeon. Good luck with your search.

Morning Carole, thanks for the info and no I haven't been to the support group because I live in ft lauderdale, you are several hours away from me. I will give Julie Douglass a call and see if she can help out but I believe this is a new thing about them not accepting the DVR payments. As far as Dr Haicken goes, I without any doubt, want him as my surgeon but if we can't get a hospital to agree to accepting payment from DVR, I'm out of luck with him. I hate trusting my life to someone who is a "second choice surgeon" but what choice have I? Thanks for the info regardless.
