Dr. English self-pay

Hi all...I'm kind of new to this (this is my first post here), but I was wondering if anyone did self-pay with Dr. English? My insurance won't cover me (I have student insurance through my law school) and I am going to have to self-pay if I want this surgery (don't know how I'm going to afford it though..LOL...but what's more debt on top of my law school loans at this point?) Anyway, I've heard great things about Dr. English, and I was wondering if anyone knew the cost or if he had a payment plan? Any other suggestions or comments about trying to pay for this surgery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi Neighbor.... I too had to go the self pay route because my insurance company denied the procedure. All I can say is look around as the price varies widely from hospital to hospital in South Florida. I did self pay with Dr. Nestor Del la Cruz Munoz at Hialeah Hosiptal on 5/23/05. Total cost out the door was $15,500. Not only did I get a great deal...I got a great surgeon. Originally I was quoted $37,000 at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, later they lowered the pricing to $26,000. As you can see the charge can vary greatly. I used a home equity line and the payments are very managable. As you said ... whats one more debt To me it was worth every penny. I am approaching 16 weeks out and will hit the 100 lb mark shortly. I had surgery with Dr. Sosa in Hialeah. He is great and great after care. $18500 was the cost for everything including aftercare nutritionist, personal trainer, gym, dr post-op appts. I only had to pay for one visit to him before hand $100 and my pcp did pre tests. Crystal
