Know a good Doc?

Hi, Does anyone here know of a good Doctor that does lapband surgery here in Florida,the Tampa Bay area? I am having trouble finding someone to accept my Medicare/Medicaid insurance. I guess some people don't even think I am qualified to have the procedure. I do have medical conditions that I do believe being overweight has caused.

Hi, I live in Orlando and am on Medicare. I am using Dr Rosenthal in Weston FL. He works with Medicare/Medicaid. He only does lab surgeries and has a good history. I studied him hard. It is not easy traveling back and forth but I am getting it done. Clevelnad Clinic is also in Naples. That might be closer for you. best Dianne Jones

I've searched high and low. Believe me when I tell u I searched high and low. I could never find a surgeon that would perform the lapband and that would accept mcr/mcd. I initially wanted the lapband, until I furthured my research and realized that the gastric bypass would be better for me. Anyway I found a great surgeon that accepts mcd, and I am on my way to having my surgery in a couple of weeks. My surgeon is in Fort Lauderdale Dr. Cox 954-928-0066. If you ever consider open RNY call him. Now in Orlando there is Celebration hospital (US Bariatrics) that if you catch them in the beginning of the month they might accept mcr. Just remember to call in the first week of the month. They perform lapband, and lap RNY. They do not accept mcd. I wish you the best of luck on your search....email me if u need help...

Have you've tried Dr.Grossbard & Dr.Rehnke at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St.Petersburg. I'm going with Dr.Rehnke for Open RNY GBP. But they do the Lap Band too Mike

Hi Donna, You've gotten some good replies. I just wanted to add mine. My husband and I are going to the Obesity Center in Gainesville. They do there surgery in N. Florida Medical Center in Gainesville. We are seeing Dr. Bruce Brient, who we really respect. They accept Medicare and Medicaid. Liz Myers

Hi Donna: My husband & I both had Lap RNY with the most wonderful surgeon! Dr. Alfredo Fernandez, Town & Country Hospital in Tampa. Not just a great surgeon but we also have an incredible local support group. Between my husband and I, we've lost over 300 lbs. and haven't had a single side effect. LOL . . just lots of new clothes and lots of energy. Dr. Fernandez does free seminars every Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. and his office number is 813-496-9663. Hope this helps.
