Katrina Donations

Omar and I have been going through all of our old clothes trying to get some stuff together for Obesity Help members that have been affected by Katrina. On one of the WLS groups I belong to, someone posted the following information about sending donations: if you have clothes to donate, group them according to gender/size /type. Place items in plastic bags and mark the bags. Place bags in a cardboard box. The address for donations is: Star of Hope Storehouse 1811 Ruiz Street Houston, Texas (mark box being sent as Large Clothes for Katrina) This info was gotten off of a website for the Astrodome in Houston so I'm guessing it's ok. If anyone has any other info let me know. Sincerely, Dawn Post-Op 9/23/04 399/242/200

Dawn, Thanks for the info, I have two closets full of clothes I cant wear any more and have been wondering if I could get them to some of the victims of the hurricane. One thing I want to add is that if any of you are making cash donations, try to give them to an organization that matches the funds, the money will go SO much further! My company matches funds and we are striving to raise $1 million dollars for hurricane victims and have them match it, the company (a very large bank) has already donated $1 million already, but $3 million would be amazing. If you dont work for a company who will match the funds, there are retailers out there who are taking donations and matching them too. Whole Foods Stores is doing it in case anyone shops there or lives near by a location. I shop at the one in Winter Park. Anyway, my point is that we should all give something, but give thru/to someone who is also giving too to stretch the donated money even further. Just my two cents... Amy
