O.K. this time it was my turn to get hit. After hunkering down 3 times last year, we finally got our beating. And while I know Katrina was only a 1, she still got me. My roommate and I thought we were prepared for a few days indoors, rented DVDs, bought popcorn and hot pockets...and ICE thank goodness we remembered ice. When we went into Publix is was barely raining, when we came out, she was already here. While I was getting groceries out of my trunk the wind blew it down on my head. OUCH!!! The edge came down right on top my of head. It still hurts. Then we weren't even inside an hour before the power went out. So no DVDs and no popcorn...instead we were on the baked lays, pretzel and Diet Sunkist diet, yes I have canned food, but we weren't hungry enough to eat cold soup. I did have all my flashlights and batteries. Thank goodness the power is back on now, it was about 22 hours...hoping the frig stuff is o.k. I'll let my roommate check the milk.

Oy vay, I hope your head is feeling better. We expected to get here in coral springs what you got in Miami, but KAtrina decided to take a dip south. We were lucky that our power only flickered a bit. My parents in pembroke pines lost their power for about 8 hours, my sister and her girlfriend in Lauderdale Lakes Still do not have any power, they are grilling everything up in their freezer! The worst was for my grandparents in their 90's. They live in an assisted living facility with a generator, but they were downstairs when the power went out and the elevator hooked up to the generator did not work so they were stuck downstairs all night becuase my g-pa is in a wheel chair. They had to sleep in chairs and someone had to keep going up to their apt. to fill his oxy tank. It was very hard on them at that age to spend the whole night in chairs.

I hear ya, I'm in Cutler Ridge and the past 24 hrs have NOT been fun!!! Though I am extremely blessed to have only lost power twice last night, about an hour each time, then it came back on about 11:30 pm and has been on ever since. Praise God. But while the power was out we didn't know the storm was heading south, it was raining like HECK and of course extremely windy, I kept thinking "geesh this is a BIG feeder band" LOL, then once the tv was back on and I realized the storm was right next to me - wow! Luckily I'm on the 2nd floor so didn't have to worry abou****er coming in, and the car was fine thank God. I was out earlier with my dog and the debris in the street and grass is amazing! I just feel so bad for the people in the lower keys, they've been getting pounded all day and so unexpected!!! I can't believe they expect it to be a cat 4 by the time it hits land again. Please, Lord watch over the towns and communities this storm is heading for!! Hope your head feels better Sarah!! You all take care! Carol
