BC/BS to begin coverage of WLS
I read in one of the SRC newsletters that one of the BC/BS was contracting with them (and that they expected others to follow suit) to use their database. So -- I guess this is a way for the ASBS to get the insurers on board, which should be a win-win situation. The only problem is that it could squeeze out some really fine surgeons with good programs who are currently performing their surgeries in smaller hospitals.
Hi Janice, well I just got a call from Dr Haicken's and its definite I was denied...so I called my insurance Staywell and they said it wasn't because of the 12 month supervised diet that was stated in the letter, its because my PCP hasnt sent them enough info...they want my medical records from my PCP showing they have documented my weight over the last year and all that I have been to see him for that has to do with the weight...so fortunitely for me I have an appt with my PCP today at 1:30 so they have to write the appeal letter requesting authorization and send my COMPLETE file in...so wish me luck...and yea anytime you need a hand just give me a shout...have a great monday
