Jacksonville Support Group

Hello, Is anyone else out there interested in attending a support group in Jacksonville Florida? I am wanting to work with OH to help keep us all on the healthy and motivating track of getting this weight off. Email me (anytime), Malissa

I would love to find a group here in the JAX area. there are a couple others who are having surgery this month who are also looking for local support groups but dont come to this site.. (why I dont know).. so please keep me posted! Email me the info anytime.. Id love to find a couple groups to attend and Im always looking for WLS pals to go with! Amber

Malissa, I think there is a support group in the Jax area. Check with Terriberri on this site. I believe she was helping to get a group going. If that doesn't work out and you're willing to drive a bit, we have a great wls support group in Tallahassee and you're more than welcome to come to our meetings! Malissa, We meet monthly. Usually on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2:00 at St. Lukes Hospital. Our group is made up of patients who have had surgery with various Doctors as well as various tyes of surgeries including Lap Band, RNY and Duodenal Switch. We also have those who are in the informational and pre-op phases. This months meeting is being held on the 4th Sunday the 28th in auditorium room C at St. Lukes Hospital. Dr. Keith Kim will be our guest speaker this month. He is a surgeon with U.S. Bariatrics ( www.usbariatrics.com ) Contact me if you would like more information. Charlie

Malissa- I am interested in an OH support group. I looked into this as well...but I was deterred a bit by the cost of the leader packets and stuff. Also, this is such a huge (square foot wise) city that more than one support group would probably be welcome! What part of town were you hoping to hold meetings? Linda

Malissa, Sallykate and Kim had scheduled a meeting but it was postponed since several people could not come- no new date yet that I am aware of but I would be happy to attend some meetings. Even casual get togethers would be great! Terri
