At a month out I'd venture to say that almost no one can eat a large variety of food. Some people take a looong time to be able to eat chicken and some people can't ever eat eggs! Perhaps you're just concentrating too much on variety rather than just sticking with the foods that are PROTEIN based that work well for you so far- like ground chicken and turkey. You're lucky that you have a few good proteins that sit well with you. You don't need to get in all the hard proteins yet. If you do introduce a new food, try it once in very SMALL quantity -like a bite- and see how it sits. Baby steps towards new foods...chew WELL and take smal bites. Also try canned meats like tuns and chicken etc, they' re much more moist. There is nothing wrong with having a diet that is not very exciting. It's just... well... not very exciting, that's all. So, I think you're worrying too much, honestly. And perhaps being a bit too hard on yourself. Stick with solid protein that works, introduce one new food every week or so in extremely small quantity, and if it doesn work, go back to what does. Then, in between, supplement with protein powders. You'll be fine doing this! It's good to talk to your Dr. too- so do get a professional opinion.

Hi There,
Your pouch is still pretty much healing at a month out. I lived on fat free refried beans with melted 2% cheese & a spoonful of fat free sour cream. It was one of my favorites during the mushy stage. I also threw up quite a bit when introducing new foods... (I still do at 2+ years out). Chicken is pretty tough...I can barely eat skinless breast unless there is some kind of moisture to it. You may want to try the canned chicken (can be found in the tuna aisle)... I'm allergic to tuna so it was a Godsend to have it available. A little mayo for moisture & I didn't have too many problems with it.
Eggs I could tolerate (scrambled or boiled). When you see Dr. Barba he may mention a stricture (scar tissue) has formed... some people get this after WLS....& he may want to check you out. I just had a scope done a few weeks ago & the procedure is painless. (If he decides to go this route.)
As for protein there are quite a few "canned" ones already premade on the market that are good. 35-40 grams of protein and running about 160 calories a can. There is also a new "shot" looks like a test tube that is out there that is 3 oz's and has close to 40 grams of protein. I just recently had to have an upper/lower GI series done.. & to keep my strength up bought a couple of the protein "test tubes" in berry flavored... wasn't bad going down.. sugar free and 1 carb. I can't tolerate lots of Whey protein so milk protein was a good option for me. (still is) I agree with what everyone else is saying to you in regards to your limited food choices now... try to steer clear of the carbs as much as possible.... How about some sugar free pudding with a scoop of protein powder? Have you tried that option yet? Hopefully Dr. Barba will get to the bottom of what is causing your pouch to act up. Keep us up to date with how you're doing.. Mickey
I go to the healthstore in the Manchester Parkade...I'm from Vernon. If you go all the way ove to the right of the store they have alot of protein items, powder and drinks and bars...There are a few good ones and of course there is one that I found I don't like but you may so I will not tell you which one. If you don't find the one you like ask the sales person they are very helpful.
