There are tons of suppport groups in NorCal. Every hospital that does bariatric surgery runs support groups and there are patient led ones as well. On the Peninsula the hospitals to check are Sequoia, Stanford, and Mills-Peninsula.

Topic: Kaiser Fremont question?
Hello! I'm new here but I thought I'd see if anyone else had their surgery through Kaiser Fremont. My surgeon is Dr. Dutta and he approved me for the surgery. He said I'd receive a call from the coordinator in a few weeks to schedule my surgery and that was on Jan. 23rd and I haven't heard anything since. How long should I wait until I give them friendly reminder pokes? Two months? Anyone else had their surgery through Kaiser? How long did it take to hear from the coordinator? Thanks!

Has anyone had experience with Dr. Korman at LABariatrics?  I saw one post but would like to see if anyone else has input.  Thank you!

Topic: RE: San Fran Peninsula/Coastside WLS Support Groups
Hi, Linda!
I don't know of any groups really near Haslf Moon Bay, but we do have a support group in San Jose and you would be very welcome to come meet us. The group is sponsored by Pacific Laparoscopy, the practice of Dr. John Rabkin, but patients of other doctors are welcome. It's a small, friendly group.
The group is largely geared towards the duodenal switch (DS) but again, people who have had or who are looking into other operations, or who just aren't sure yet what operation to have, are very welcome. There is no committment involved. A support person is also welcome.
I notice from your other post that you are looking into revision surgery. Dr. Rabkin does do revisions, including revisions of RNY to DS, so he might be a resource for you. But you would be warmly welcomed regardless.
If you want more information about the group, or just have any questions, feel free to send me a pm.

Topic: Bay Area Surgeon
Hi all....I was very active on this site back in the "day", I had my WLS 2/2002, I managed to keep my weight off for a very long time but, in the past few years its been coming back at an alarming rate.  I had a open roux n y, no complications, it was a great experience!  I chose open rather than lap due to less complications, I weight 298 (I am 5'7) the day of surgery, I got down to 150, gained some and hovered at 170 for a very very long time.  Currently I am 254

I had my surgery in IL and we have now relocated to SF area, I am exploring the idea of a revision and am in need of a surgeon, I figured this would be the best place to ask! :)  We have Blue Shield of CA PPO, so, I do not need a referral...I have high blood pressure, severe anemia and depression over all the weight gained!

I appreciate any help you can give,

Linda
