There's never anyone on this page..
I agree too, I would much rather share infor with folks from Cali then some of these people from New York, Illinoise, Ohio, etc... I've been cyber bullied before for asking a question that some NY person that was idiotic and I literally had to start over again with a new identity. It can be harsh on here. Sometimes its just too much information and EVERYONE's doctors orders are so different.
@Happy Healing.. I know about the cyber bullying on the oh sites. Its one reason why I stopped posting things.
I hope and wish the best of luck with your surgery. Any question or worries PM me and ill do my best to wipe it away.
Yeah all drs have thier own ways.. but u can always ask ur dr about the advice u get.

I guess you could say that I'm an "oldie but goodie". I have seen great things and lots of postings on the Cali forum and LOTS of friendships made in my almost 3 years on OH and then I've seen a LOT of drama too which resulted in many hurt feelings.
There are still some experienced folks around that post regularly like Elizabeth, Nancy, Lu, Stephanie and I who still try to keep it going for the support to others. I know there are more of the experienced folks come to read but rarely post, which I sure do miss.
We used to have lots of "activities" such as wackey-weigh-in Wednesdays, and what did you eat today and what exercise did you get but those have stopped.
Lu tries when she can to do a good morning check-in when she can and does a great job of trying to rally but when few respond it's tough. I have been doing the Daily Cup of Positive for a couple of years and it started as a check in type but few posted so I just post to help start the day in a positive way for me and anyone else who might need it.
We're here for all of you starting your journey and feel free to ask questions or start posting. I'll join in.... I promise!!! I think a bunch of people went over to Facebook and have started small groups there too. I know we have our Nor Cal Losers group there, but mainly to keep tabs on each other and our events. You're all invited as I post it here too.
Hugs,
Barb

Barb is so right! This forum used to be hopping back in my day (I'M REALLY OLD) I used to be glued to this site when I started my journey nearly 8 years ago! Folks used to have local BBQ's and coffee get togethers, etc.
I have made numerous friendships from this website! And in the beginning of my journey it was priceless in means of the support and information I received from others on the boards. I tried to stick around to give back and support the newbies (which I did for quite a while) and then the new life that I was blessed with after losing 175 lbs kind of took over. I got married, I moved...and now my life is so full that I rarely have time to be playing around on the computer. And most people I met on here are now on Facebook...and since I get FB on my cell phone I stay in contact with folks on there more than here.
One thing I would suggest to the new folks on here.....if you have questions...post them...ask...don't just browse on here and look for answers...ask your questions...people will respond....if they don't..ask again! Start up something in your own area. Just pick a place and time and post it on here....invite folks to meet for coffee, etc. "if you build it they will come" as the saying goes!
Stay on the course....look for local support groups in your area...they aren't just for post-ops...pre-ops are welcome...as well as folks just looking to gain information on WLS to see if it is the right choice for them.
Blessings to all!
Sara
p.s. Barb....we'd love to see you at the meeting tonight! =)
