A peek into my head...enter if you dare!

Ok, so my sweet husband gave me some $$ to go and buy some new clothes.  So, I stop at Lane Bryant after work and take one look at their prices and head to Fashion Bug.  Now, here's the thing, I'm not done losing weight.  I still have between 85-100 pounds to go.  I don't really want to buy new work pants yet.  The ones I wear fit ok, they're not horribly baggy on me, I still look professional in them.  I just change tops to make the outfit look different.  lol  I'm sure I'm not fooling anyone, but I don't really care.  Part of my issue with buying new clothing is that I'm kinda afraid to try something on, because I don't want to be disappointed.  What if I think in my head that I'm wearing a 20 and a 22 or 24 is what is fitting me?   Then, when I was at Fashion Bug, also looking for a cute dress type thing to wear to my nephews high noon wedding in mid August (who chose that date and outside in East County.... Sweaty  ) Anyhow, I know I'm blathering...lol  So, I came home and boohooed to SDsportsfan aka my husband, Tim.  He's so good, he totally got it, and said, "Honey, it sounds like you need a cheerleader to come with you on a shopping trip to encourage you.  You have the negative voice in your head telling you why bother, nothing is going to fit, nothing has changed for you, so you need an  Angel to counteract that negativity"  Are you still reading this?  LOL  I told you it was going to be dangerous to enter my  Crazy head.  Can anyone else relate?  Lie to me and tell me yes, ok?   Comedian  xo  Kim

Its true, we see ourself one way, mostly negative, and other see us and the changes we have under. THEY see them WE DONT.

I can so relate. I would say, GO and try them on, you might be way surprized. I still see my self as 400 pounds (or darn close)

Its takes time, and others to help you see the new you

Good luck

Hello 4 years out here and I am still suprised when something that is not a size 24 fits I wear a 16/18 Never thought I would get there and I am very surprised when I try then on and they fit. I was 355 wearing 4x broom skirts when I started that was all that fit.  My husband took me shopping this weekend said buy what ever you want We went in old Navy I kept picking things up and saying that is not going to fit he said try it on  They fit I bought the ones I really liked. My moms bf bought these exlarge coveralls at the thrift store well they were from old navy too they turned out to be womens lol mom said I bet they will fit you I said no way she said try them on I did over my clothes they fit OMG.  You need to try Clothes on, you just never know and it may stay in your head a long time and that is ok too.  I hope you go back and try some on.  Big hugs, Celest

Hi Kim, You are definately NOT alone here. My head and my eyes still see the fat girl in the mirror sometimes. I actually pull my own jeans out of the dryer and wonder who they belong to cause there's no way they're mine. Wrong, they are mine and I can't believe I actually wear them. Comfortably. Some days are better than others. I think it is getting better tho. Now, go shopping, bring a cheerleader, and try things on. You will be amazed! Sue

Awwww, !!!   First, Tim is very sweet!!! I was him post earlier and couldn't figure out why he looked familiar and went to his profile looking to see who his postop wife was, but he has nothing there yet. Is he looking into having surgery? How cool!!!  Second, if you need a shopping angel, I would be thrilled to volunteer, especially at Fashion Bug seeing as it is my favorite clothes store in the world!! lol  You are definitely not alone, no lying necessary sweetie!!!  love, Becky

Thank you everyone for your kind responses!  I think I might just take you up on your offer Becky!  What are you doing on Sunday?  Yes, Tim is actually attending the seminar at PacBar tonight.  I told Dr T that I want him to be Tim's surgeon if God opens this door.  Tim's first post didn't go thru, I was bummed as he said nice things about me...   xo Thanks again everyone!  Kim

I can totally relate. The hard thing for me when I was dropping weight is that I felt so healthy and in control (like before I gained the weight.) Then I'd get a glimpse in the mirror and I was still heavy. It was weird and the opposite of what most people go through. I haven't thought about it till recently because up to about 6 mos ago, I was happy with what I was seeing in the mirror. Thanks for the reminder. One of my mind 'exercises' is to look at my self naked in the mirror until every negative thoughts leave my head (took months to get there). Try it...nothing better than being your own cheerleader!
