Christmas Traditions!?!?!?!
What CHRISTmas tradition must you have to make this day feel right?
Is it a specific food that grandma made?
Is it the story of CHRISTmas?
Is it a game you play?
Is it just a series of events?
Tell us how you will make this a CHRISTmas to remember for your family.....
I love the story of the THREE TREES!
We will have all the children gather in the center on a rug and read the scriptures that describe the birth of Christ and then I will read The Three Trees. This follows our dinner on Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve we will gather in my tiny living room for gifts and FOOD! YES FOOD AND LOTS OF IT!
I do love this time of year....I love you all and pray that your Christmas is special and memorable!
Tell me about your plans....
Go Ahead....tell.

Debbie...my grandmother use to do that and me and momma and my youngest daughter still try to beat each other to the phones and say it first. My grandmother told me that if you said "Christmas Eve Gift" first, the other person had to buy you a gift. Evidently it is something from days gone by that was fun because I still have fun with it.
We are pretty tradition when it comes to Christmas. We get our granddaughtet the weekend before Christmas and do her presents then so she can be with her mom and their family on Christmas day. Then we do presents on Christmas morning after breakfast. Since there are no kids at home anymore, there's no rush to get up early and hit the presents. We do put extra special stuff in each other's stockings. That's my favorite part. You never know what might turn up in your stocking. Then we do dinner around mid-afternoon. Standing Rib Roast and Yorkshire Pudding. Super delicious. Then we will probably get online and see what everyone is up to and make calls to the family to wish them a happy holiday. Nothing exciting as you can tell, but it;s our tradition now that my son is grown and on his own. He can't afford to come home this weekend so he will spend it in Gainesville, FL with his dad.

We open packages on Christmas Eve and then deliver our other gifts to family and friends. We join my cousin and her now grown children to decorate Christmas cookies for Santa Claus. We exchange gifts and eat for a while. We use to help put the boys toys together, but they can put their own gifts together now.
Every Christmas is special and memorable for us.
Christmas day we eat lunch, which is the big meal of chicken and dressing, etc. We usually stay home and wait for the other family members to come and visit. The final day of Christmas is on the 26th for us. We have a birthday party for my uncle who was born the day after Christmas. We all bring Christmas treat left overs and have a final party.
