RNY revision

I am new the board, and am seeking advice.  I had RNY 5 yr ago, and have regained 80 of the 125 lbs lost.  Some of this was due to inactivity from an accident, some non compliance, and I dont know about functional status.  I am looking for a revision, and thought banding was the only way to go, but I have found there are other options.  Everyone seems pleased with DS, and I was wondering if you all had any thoughts.  I want it to work this time, I want the best possible shot.  I want to learn the things that I missed the first time around.  I am so embarrased and humiliated.  I am in physical pain due to the wt gain, and just need some help.  Also, any favorite surgeons around?
All of this might have been previously covered, but I have not learned how to retrieve past posts of a particular subject.  Thanks in advance for helping the newbie!

Hi, I don't know much about DS... I had a revision did back in July.... years ago I had the gastric stampling did and gain all my weight back plus some.... I had talked to Dr Smithe in Les Miles office, I don't think I spell his name right... Anyway, he refused to do it.... I went home in tears.... after of year of trying to diet again, I did some more research and found Dr Scott Pennington, after going to severa support meetings at Trinity, I talked to several people there that he had did a revision on.... so I made a appointment.... he did several test on me to find out if he could do the surgery safely... and then he set me up with surgery.... He is a wonderful doctor.... A Christian doctor that prays with you before surgery.... i adore him.... There office is a Bariactric of Excellences..... if you want more information, Please email me

wishing you the best of luck of finding the right doctor for you

Welcome to the Bama Board.  I know nothing of revision options.  I do want to say to you...Don't feel embarassed or humiliated.  It CAN happen to ANY of us.  Don't beat yourself up over it.  Continue trying to lose the weight in any method you deem worthy.  Good Luck.....
Lisa

There is a revision board on OH:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/revision/a,messageboard/bo ard_id,5360/

Don't feel like you are alone.  I only lost 1/2 of my weight and have gained some of it back.  I have severe arthritis, fibromyalgia and need both knees replaced so I am very inactive as far as exercise goes.  Due to lack of income, I cannot purchase the protein, vitamins, etc. that I need.  I only have food that is donated to me so I can't pick and choose the nutrition that is vital after WLS.

Anyway, that said, try getting on the revision board and you should be able to find the answers you need and the support of others who are also feeling bummed out about the feeling of failure.

I know when I tell anyone I've had gastric bypass surgery, they look at me like I must've just had it because I sure need it.  They always ask "When did you have it done?" and when I say 3 ½ years ago, they look at me like they don't understand.

Good luck!
Hugs,
Joni
