Hi Ladies,

I thought I should let you know that I don't feel comfortable in a bathing suit either.  The first week I started to go I brought my towel out with me and only took it off at the last second before I jumped in the pool.  After a week of watching other people I realized there is all sorts of body types, old, middle aged, lumpy, bumpy and disproportioned and all of them are comfortable with what they have.

Since that week I have stopped bringing my towel out with me and stopped worrying about other people and I try to focus on the fact that I am going to look so much better one day. That being said, I never go during public swim time or in the evenings because I do not want to many people I know to see me in a bathing suit. Mornings are good during lane swimming because it is mainly people that want to excercise and lose weight. Not competitive judgemental people. That is my experience in my town.  The other thing I realized is that seniors mainly go to aquafit here so I don't feel intimidated.

Good luck with embarking on your excercise programs. Swimming makes me feel weightless and not burdened by gravity and joint problems. I love it!

 Hi Ladies

I go to aquafit with the old ladies....lol...I was a bit intimidated at first especially when one of them is the mom of one of my friends I went  to school with since we were 10 yrs old, and at 83 she is fit as a fiddle.  Anyway she is always happy to see me and hugs me, so I know she doesn't care how I look she is just glad I'm there. I can't wait until Monday when I can start again as I didn't go the whole month of december.  My husband has always said it doesn't matter what others think of you, you do the best for yourself. It is not to say that yes I am embarrassed of myself of always being the biggest friend with my friends,or most social situations but for the most part I just bite the bullet and do it. So by being on this journey that we all have taken on , our end result is all the same, we want to be healthier, thinner, and stronger individuals. By having to do some things that are uncomfortable for us to do in the end it is about the end result we are seeking,

Cheers Mona

You ladies are so inspirational and supportive. I thank you for that.

I carry a lot of weight on my lower half, especially my legs. I don't even wear knee length skirts because of the size of my legs.

I am hoping to lose weight there as well.  This one person was telling me that a coworker of hers had the surgery lost everywhere but kept all the weight in her legs.  That thought makes me really paranoid.  It scares me.

I am hoping to gain the confidence to go swimming one day. I need to work it out mentally just as much as I need to work it out physically.

I have a Bowflex...in pieces since I moved last March (I know I am bad) and I am hoping to put it together again with my partner because I love working out on it...more so than my elliptical machine.

Take care ladies and thanks for your support. It means a lot because as much as friends and family support me, they don't know what I am going through.
