Update to my TMI post about diarrhea.

Today was day 4 with diarrhea. I woke up this morning feeling a little off but still ate 2 tsp of tuna. Shortly after eating I got all cold and clamy and my heart started to flutter. I'm thinking what the heck is going on and then i'm running down the hall to the bathroom cause I feel like I'm gonna vomit. Oh dear god I seriously was vomit so bad and hard that I could barely breath. Then I started to get a headache and a fatigued feeling came over me fast. Almost like I could fall asleep standing up.
I plugged my symtoms into an on-line site and dehydration came up. So I went to Emerg and sure enough I was dehydrated. Try starting an i.v. line on a dehydrated patient, ya it's not fun. After spending all day in there on i.v fluids and anti nausea meds. I'm starting to feel better. The doctor said that there was no way that I could keep my fluid intake up on my own and she reassured me that I'm doing well for being so early out but things like this can happen.
They wanted me to spend the night but didn't have a bed other than a gurney in the back of the emergency department so I opted to come home and go back if any of my symtoms reappear. I knew I'd feel a whole lot better sleeping in my own bed and thats where I'm off to now cause i'm super exhausted.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Gosh Kee, how horrible.  I'm so glad you went to Emerg.  There is a tummy flu going around right now too that is messing with people's guts.  I hope you're feeling better soon and that whatever was making you sick and in the bathroom, does NOT come back!

Thanks Dreena,

I'm thinking today is going to be a liquids kinda day. I need to stay hydrated and trying to get the required fluids and foods in at the same time just doesn't work for me yet.  I know things will get better as time passes but for today it's rest and sip sip sip.

Thanks for your reply Karen.
I feel the same way it's either drink or eat, it's impossible to do both right now. Even trying to get in 70-75 grams of protein a day is crazy, I can maybe get 30-40 on a good day but I'm no where near 64oz of water a day. Before surgery I was a water duck and drank about 3 liters a day, ya i don't see that ever happening again.
But I'll take whatever it is that this new sleeve is testing me with cause in the end it's all worth it. This morning I weighted in at 221, so that 17 pounds down. I can't remember the last time I even see a light at the end of my fat tunnel but now i see it shining through and I'm so greatful for this surgery.

If you want to get your protien in as well as stay hydrated drink milk.  I made lattes all day long when I was first out and I had no problems meeting my protiens or my fluids.  and eat yogurts and cottage cheese.  They are high protien aliquid.  Also eat cream soups.  I took starting solids slowly because it is really tough.  But you will get there I promise!  And you will love the results.  ANd you will be proud that you can only eat a little...but also frustrated at times because after the Thanksgiving turkey breast that you chose to eat first like a good girl you won't have room for the delicious crab apple pie your wonderful sister in law slaved over!

Relene,

My problem is that I have milk allergies. I can not have milk or any product derived of milk., I've had this allergy since I have been a child. I can break the rules and have a piece of hard cheese or maybe a skim milk pudding but normally It will come with a price to pay. Today i may eat it and have a little reaction that I can deal with and tomorrow I may eat it again and have a hugh reaction that will make me super ill. It sucks big time.
Thanks for much for posting. Hope all is well.

Kee.

Well that really sucks! Spy milk? I know it tastes funny but it might help. Or hosts milk? If you can have that maybe you will be able to get you protiens and fluids. I know that without milk I would be screwed. I eat geek yogurt and cottage cheese and out milk in my tea. I use skim milk powder to boost my protiens.your allergy would make this surgery a great challenge!

Oh no!!!
Well just so you know -- you are NOT alone!!
I too am getting dehydrated and I am dizzy .
Yesterday I vomited every meal up. I don't know when this is goign to sort itself out but if sure is frustrating. I feel like I'm doing everything wrong. I can't get my fluids it let alone any protein.
Ughhh I know it's a trial & error kinda thing with amounts, textures and foods all together but it's driving me INSANE!!
I got in more than my recommended fluids yesterday but I don't know how vomiting plays in that.
Vomiting with a sleeve is weird! I didn't heave- it just fell outts my throat hahahaha

Hope you're feeling better today Kee!
sip sip sip!!
