Do Any of You Live in Colorado?

I'm planning my trip for later this week. I wanted to do some white water rafting, hiking, and to drive the scenic roads through the Rocky Mountains. But now I hear the mountain roads are still closed due to snow and the rivers are too cold! What else is there left to do there? I'm glad we never close Florida!

I've never been to Colorado. But I did live in Alaska for much of my life and this time of year up there is not the greatest...I imagine it's much the same in Colorado. Much of the snow is still around, it's not warm yet etc etc...it wasn't until I moved to Washington that I discovered why everyone always says spring is such a great season. In Alaska it's grey and dismal because all the snow has melted but it's still cold and nothing has turned green yet...you should be coming to Washington because it's BEAUTIFUL here right now Anyway, have a great trip...I'm sure you'll still find fun stuff to do. I live in Colorado, and I was in Estes Park last Saturday. It's at 8000 feet. All the roads were open and the temps were in the low 70's. We still have snow on the mountains, but it's pretty high up. I know a lot of roads are open (like I-70 that gets to around 11000 feet). I think you'll be ok. I'm sure the water is really cold, though, since it's all snow runoff. You can drive through a lot of Rocky Mountain National Park, though, so don't go changing your plans! When you get to the park, they ranger at the gate can tell you what's still closed, but it shouldn't be much! Have a fun trip!

Thanks DaNell. I'm in Este Park right now. We fly back home tomorrow. We drove over to Manitou Springs yesterday and took the Cog up to Pikes Peak. Today we went hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Then they had a Jazz fest downtown that we went to. It has been a great trip and I'm glad we came. Thanks for the info!
