"Cleansing" Your Pouch

Someone on another board said that she developed an ulcer from her meds laying in her pouch too long. She may have to have a revision if the ulcer doesn't heal. Others have said that they drink alot before bed to rinse out anything remaining in their pouch. I never really thought about it but it probably is best to have a "clean" pouch before bed. It makes sense to me!

Sounds like it would work. I just had my 6-month check up with the surgeon and he said I can take pills now. So I took a pill last night for the first time and I got a awful pain in my chest and back that lasted a while. I drank water to see if the pill was stuck or something. The pain went away, but now I am scared to take pills again.

I'm going to have to rethink taking my meds right before bed. I try to take them earlier but sometimes you just don't have the time. Thanks for the info. Deb

I guess some meds are worse than others to sit around in your pouch. I was taking my iron and vitamin C before bed without drinking afterwards. They are probably harmless but I don't think I want either of them sitting around too long in the pouch!

I heard it's best to flush the pouch before going to sleep. I take all my vitamins in the chewable form. I don't believe there's much if any absorption in the pouch, so flushing makes sense to me.
