He is in Oklahoma for nine weeks, the he goes to Virginia for 15 weeks for training. I cried for most of the night about it but, I have to give him credit for taking such a big step. It really takes bravery to put yourself in a situation like that. I'm proud of him but, still sad and worried. I guess I'm just being a typical mom.
After he left yesterday I started craving chocolate...and cake...and candy. At least I had enough self awareness to understand the urge for emotional eating to sooth my feelings. I didn't give in but a few months ago I would have sat down with a half gallon of Rocky Road!!
I know your're sad, but at the same time I'm sure you're proud of your soldier. The Army has a long tradition of training our soldiers to be the best in the world and their safety is top proirity. He's in good hands for sure. Wait till he comes home for the first time in his dress uniform, thats when you'll see the tears. Every time I see a young man or women join our military to serve our country I become so proud. Your son is a true hero. Congratulation. My prayers will always be with him.
