I HAVE A QUESTION???

Hello Girls, You are ALL doing so very well!! I have this question that has been nagging me all along. "How fast should we be able to drink our water/protein drinks? I can sip on mine for about half the day and water in between, or I can drink a shake in about ten or fifteen minutes. I have read on here that your body only processes 30grams of protein at a time. I am past the sipping stage so I can drink more at a time than I used to. I am afraid of making my pouch bigger. I ask my doctor this question and he said tha****er/liquid goes though pretty fast. I just want to know how fast everyone else can drink their liquids. On Monday I will be 6 months out and have lost 79 lbs from a week before surgery, and I am feel better than I have in YEARS. Thank you so much for your help. Chrisy

Hi Christine, I probably consume about 40 to 50 ounces of liquid a day. I am 6 months also and sometimes I have a hard time taking in all the liquids. I wish you good luck and wish I could help you more figure this out. Good luck and Congrats on the 79 I have lost 118 so far. Take Care, Machelle

Thank you Machelle for your reply, you were very helpful. Congradulation on your 118lb lose. Hope to catch you someday. Keep up the good work, for work it is. I hope soon to get this liquid down pat, I can get in about 74 or 80 oz in a day. Thanks again, Chrisy

Hi Chrissy! You look great! I can drink liquids - pretty much normal. I can use a straw now and can finish one of my Acheive one protein drinks (9.5 ounces and 20grams of protein ) pretty quickly. hugs, Britt

You look really good, and have come far. Thank you for your reply, I think I am right along with the rest of you girls in getting down maybe 75-80 oz a day, I know that I have more that I dont count, I even tried to drink like a normal person and lo and behold I was okay with that, felt full of water but made it okay. Thank you again Chrisy

I drink normally without any restriction. There is conflicting thoughts on how much protein the body can absorb. Some people say thirty grams others say that there is no proof and that the thirty grams is just a myth. It sounds like you are making a concentrated effort to get in enough fluids and protein and beyond that I wouldn't worry about it too much. It sounds like your doctor is ok with how you are doing it.

I have a wonderful doctor and he is handsome as well. He just told me that liquids go though quit fast and keep up the good work. I saw your pictures of your trip with your daughter and they were great. It was so sweet of you to take your daughter with you so that she could enjoy the grand canyon along with you. You are really doing a good job on your journey. Chrisy

I can drink liquids pretty fast. I remember my first protein shake it took over an hour to drink it. I don't think liquids will make your pouch bigger because they drain out to fast. There are so many different ideas about protein and how much you absorb I don't know what is true. You probably should ask your nurse or doctor what their opinion is. Deb

That is what my doctor said "that the liquids drain out to fast" too fast sometimes for me, I just get started going good at work and then I have to go to the bathroom, but that is a good thing. I just worry that I am doing something wrong and that I will fail like all my other adventures with food. I try very hard to stay on the program and plan on do so, excersise and all. Thank you Chrisy
