I would love to have some popcorn but I have been afraid to try it. I know that it is controversial. Do any of you eat it? If so, have you had any problems with it?

I tried a few pieces (less than 10) over the weekend with no issues. Then again, I haven't had issues with any foods yet. I have not tried much outside of what is allowed. Christy

I'm not sure if my surgeon allows it or not. I see him on March 21st. I try not to snack and I'm afraid that if I start I won't be able to put the genie back in the bottle.

I eat popcorn every day.... I need the fiber it provides me... it helps me stay regulated... I buy the light kind and I probably eat 1/3 of the bag I would say.... Every since I started that, my weight loss picked up again... that wasn''t the only change I made, but it was one of them.... I would say, try a little and see how it goes... that is all you can do, if you really want it.... there is not much wrong with eating popcorn in my opion.... Shawn M.

Agreeing with the others. I have had small quantities of popcorn too with no problems. Have you seen or tried the "mini" bags of microwave popcorn? I have one at home but haven't tried it yet to see how small it actually is...lol

I have tried some microwave popcorn, and tolerated it fine physically. Mentally, that's a different thing. I tried it when I was going through a "gotta eat something" phase a couple of weeks ago. It was also a time when I wasn't losing any weight (which may or may not be related). I was thinking that perhaps the salt was making me retain fluids. I now think it was just a symptom that I was starting to eat differently than what works best for me. I was snacking on oyster crackers, sugar free cookies, too many almonds in the yogurt, yada, yada, yada. I was getting into dangerous territory. Since then I have cut back to 3 meals plus a protein shake in the afternoon. If I'm physically very hungry at night, a let myself have some beef jerky. And when I "gotta have something", I've been knitting and listening to a book on tape. It feels good to be back on track and losing again. I don't mean to keep you from your popcorn, I know a lot of people can probably handle it. Maybe someday I will too. We'll see. Best wishes, Linda O.

I have had a little popcorn a couple of times with no trouble. I don't want to have any at home as I don't want it to be too accessable, but twice we have gone to a movie (about a month apart) and I allowed myself a handful of my husband's popcorn as a special treat. I am trying not to get in the habit of snacking as that is what got me into the biggest trouble over the years! Everything in moderation! Sandy

I have eaten it several times with no problems. I choose the light kind and then just eat a handful or two... like Shawn, I think it helps with fiber... and when it's not loaded with butter, I'm not sure it's all that bad for you at all. Marilyn
