Hi Janet, Like you I am a bit but not as bad as I thought I would be. My surgery is the same day and same time as yours just in a different state. May God watch over and keep you safe and guide your surgeons hands during the procedure. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you on the losing side. God Bless and get blenty of before the surgery. Joyce

Janet, I know exactly how you feel. I had my RNY on 11/3 and before then I started thinking about my family and what if something happened to me during surgery. I decided to not write letters to my husband and kids but I did have a talk with each of them alone. First and foremost I let them know (as always) how much I love them and then explained why I needed this surgery for me and for them. I also told my husband that if something did happen, I wanted him to throw a big party cause I've had a marvelous life. There were lots of tears and laughter but I know it made us all feel better. BUT...nothing is going to happen to you except that you'll become a big loser! Shelia PS -- don't complain about having to be at the hospital at 7:00 am. I had to be at mine at 5:30 am and we live two hours away. Hey, it's worth it. You get to sleep most of the rest of the day anyway.

Sheila- Thank you so much. I am still torn about the letter thing. My husband knows how much I love him but my 2 kids are young, 2 and 6 and I don't ever want them to think that Mommy didn't love them. I did tell my hubby that he needs to make sure the kids know how much I love them. I am sorry you had to be at the hospital so early. How are you feeling these days? How is your recovery going? Janet

Janet, I'm feeling remarkably well. My RNY was done lap so I was out of the hospital after 3 days/2 nights. I was in a good deal of pain for the first couple of days at home due to a hematoma I have ****urred prior to surgery and not as a result of the surgery). My doctor changed the pain med and it was much better. When I had my staples removed Friday (11/12) I couldn't believe the relief of a significant amount of pain I had been having -- not bad pain, just made it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. Now I'm able to sleep on my side with only mild aching at times. I do notice a lack of energy but not a whole lot. I'm still able to do what I NEED to do and take a nap if needed. The anticipation of "what might be" is usually a lot worse than "what is." You'll come through this fine and you'll be the one spreading the word to others that it will all be OK. Shelia

Janet -- don't forget -- you'll be in a hospital with doctors and nurses -- they know how to take care of your pain -- drugs! I'll keep you and all the others having surgery on Monday in my prayers. You will all be fine. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you when you get home. Shelia
