Topic: RE: Anyone started losing again after 18 months?
I would definitely up the exercise to 4-5 x per week. Also, make sure your diet is how it should be. Protein first, veggies, than starch and water, milk, etc....Cut sugar down, too if you are eating too much (which I know is something I have to work on for sure)
Topic: RE: smoking??
Hello,
After not smoking for 4.5 years I began again in Nov. of 2004 - a very stupid thing to do, and now in Apr. of 2005, am still smoking. I am now up to about 1/2 a pack a day.
I have to say I really do enjoy it!! and at the same time I really do want ot stop, especially since I sing in my church choir and it really does make a diiference.
Any sugestions would be most welcome!!
Topic: HELP! 18 months post op and ALWAYS eating!
Hi there,
I am almost 18 months out and for a while now (like almost 6 months now) I get the shakes if I don't eat every 3-4 hours. I feel like I am ALWAYS eating. I have lost 170+ pounds and am below what my personal goal and my Doctors goal was for me. (I am 5'9" @ 135 lbs)
I am wondering if its possible I may have become diabetic even though I never was one before surgery. How do they test someone that as had GB? Since in order to test you have to drink that sugar drink thing? Maybe I should just call my doctor and get seen. My labs have always come back great. Is anybody else having this problem?
Thanks!
Kim

Hello Fran! I have to agree with you, the board has been pretty slow lately. Glad to hear you are doing well. What part of Italy are you going to? I haven't been to Naples, Italy since 1996!
ANyway, I just finished coaching pee wee basketball and I am starting to coach little league T-ball now. I am doing very well. I am at the top of the waiting list at my military hospital to have a tummy tuck!
I also just got into a surgical tech program at the college I attend on my first try and let me tell you, that is not an easy thing to do.

Topic: RE: nov people
i had my surgery on 11/28/03. I started out at 330 pounds and am now down to 205. So, that means I have lost 125 pounds. 25 pounds short of what my surgeon wanted me to lose, but at 5'9", i think i've lost enough. Now, just to get the extra skin taken care of!

Topic: RE: HELP!!! Probelms with blood pressure and blood sugar!!!
Well, I'm still having problems with my sugar. It's getting to where it is hard to keep it up in the normal range. My PCP is actually sending me to see an endocrinologist now. I've changed my diet to go with what they said and it hasn't helped. I can eat something one week (like pork tenderloin) and it be ok. But then eat it again the next week and my sugar will drop down to 40 or lower. It's become so bad that I have to check my blood sugar continously and they have prescribed me a glucogan rescue kit (in the event I black out, I would need a shot). This has really become a problem because I'm not able to work now and most days, not able to drive b/c they are worried I will pass out and cause harm to myself or someone else. All I can say is I had the bypass to make myself feel better and it has seem to make me feel worse!

Topic: RE: 11/23/04 was my date...
Heather,
I am in the same boat that you are. I am down to 169 and in a size 12 - just turned 40 a week ago!! AND, I used to live in Missouri!!
Anyway, I wish I had the answer to the last 30 lbs. I know I could do better with my food, but overall I feel great and I think I've made amazing changes with my food from pre-surgery. I don't eat "junk" but I feel like I still do some mindless eating and I am really working hard on that. To me, that is more of an issue than the 30 lbs. I think that if I can conquer that, the weight will happen. Meanwhile, I want to do a PS consult, but didn't know if I had to lose the rest of the weight first. Do you have any plans to do that?? Being almost 18 months out, I'm starting to feel a little panicky, like if I don't figure it out now, it's never going to happen.
Any advice from anyone is welcome!!! Thanks!! And, Heather, I know we can do it!! The answer is there, we just have to try harder for now!!

Well, I am not through, but can't seem to lose any more! I had surgery 11/3/03
started at 348 am down to 170 and my goal is 140. Plastics would get me a long way there! I am in a size 12 finally from a 28, and haven't been a size 12 since the age of 12 and I'll turn the big 40 next month. I would like to lose the other 30 but I am thrilled (except for the hanging boobs and skin), but it's better than the fat!
