I'm so glad I could help! You are so very welcome! ; )
It's not easy...we have to support eachother! It sounds like you have been working so very hard to keep your carbs down and protein up. I bet your daily intake is exactly what your doctor wants to see!
Hugs,
Karen

Oh Karen!! Consider this a great big hugh hug from me!!!
You have given me such valuable links!! I just quickly went to Chef Dave's site and I am diffently going to spend a lot of time on this site. - - - - Last nite I tried to trick the family with mashed califlower using ligth sour cream (4g carbs), salt, pepper, dash of garlic powder with chives. My son (10 yo) said I didn't whip the potatoes very well cause it had little tiny chunks. He also asked what kind of potatoes they were because it tasted differently. I had to be honest & tell him the truth and he still ate it anyway.
I have been working so hard since Tuesday and have been able to get my daily carbs to 48, 45, 67, 53, and 48. I am going to call the Dr.'s office on Monday & find out if this is going to be close enough. And my Protien has been up there where it needs to be starting with Tuesday: 98, 156, 97, 76, 135 (required to have at least 100g of Protien daily).
Appreciate your support & the wonderful references. Thank you Thank you & Thank you

I am impressed, I didn't know people did much quilting anymore. When I was little I always liked the quilts my aunts and grandma made so much more that store bought.
I am pretty lucky on the strict liquids before surgery, I only have to do the strict liquids the day before surgery. Let me know how everything goes for you too.

You can do it! It's just going to take a lot of planning and thinking ahead.
I bought a cookbook yesterday called "Hungry Girl's 200 under 200" (www.hungry-girl.com) . The recipes seem very family friendly which as mom of 3 I was looking for.
Google "The World According to Eggface" and you'll find some GREAT recipes.
http://www.chefdave.org/default/index.html is Chef' Dave's website...he's a bariatric chef. He has some recipes on his site and some really good books as well.
Good Luck!!! You are not a failure. The simple fact that you are here and that you are trying proves that!

Oh, me too!! Tomorrow I will have my second quilt finished!! I have been trying to keep myself busy so I don't have time to focus on it at all. I don't know about you, but I am really having a hard time staying within the "30g of Carbs" per DAY per my surgeon's request. I have been on about a 165g of Carbs per day & doing really well . . . . except for the days I totally blow it.
I am assuming on Friday, Oct 23rd at the Pre-op appt & am sure they are going to put me on strick liquid diet for the last 3-days.
Best of Luck!! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Good luck with your surgery, I am having mine done on 10/26 too. I'm excited but starting to feel a little squirrely as the date approaches.
